I would use 2N3251 or 2N3251A. The hfe is 100 and since you don't mention the hfe rank of your BC179, you need to check if your circuit is hfe dependent and will 100 fit the design. http://www.futurlec.com/Transistors/2N3251A.shtml

NTE36 is allegedly equivalent.

C2578 data:
Vcbo - 140V
Vceo - 100V
Vebo - 6V
Collector current - 7Amps

C5129 data:
Vcbo - 1500V
Vceo - 600V
Vebo - 5V
Collector current;
DC - 10Amps
Pulse - 20Amps

What is the transistor that you require? Please state the numbers on the transistor.

That is a Sanyo type of line output transistor, sometimes used in power supplies of PT03 style.
Equivalents include the very popular BU508DFY BU808DFI etc or 2SC5885, 2SC5387 etc

I would choose a BU808DFI as a substitute. Slightly higher current and power rating.

Specs for a 2SC1258 Si npn 28W 36V 18V 5V 3A 200>C 250MHz - 15/250 manufactured by NEC in a TO128-1 packaging.

Replacement/substitute or equivalent would be BLW15, 2N5938 or a KT934V.
