I have a Sharp that is printing a PS error after every page it prints out of JD Edwards. I have all error printing turned off. Is there another way to turn this off?

Hi Sccfire, This apparently is a fairly common problem with the 2800 series printer and associated with connection to a PC using USB. It can only be overcome by manually configuring the printer?s USB port to work in standard mode rather than at high-speed USB2.0 mode which probably won?t be to much of a problem. Here is a link from a support page on HP?s site that should walk you through the process: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00506095 Let us know how it goes and please don?t forget to rate the posting.

sounds like you have a bad formatter....there is a way to circumvent the formatter and print whats called an engine test. this is used just to test the mechanics of the machine and leave the brain out of the equation...
Engine Test Button Location HP laserjet
printer 5000 series
The engine test verifies that the print engine
is functioning correctly.
The Formatter PCA is completely bypassed during an
engine test.
This test is very useful for isolating printer problems. The
engine test
prints a full page of lines across the entire printable area,
and is also
useful for checking and adjusting registration.
Note Engine test will print from the last input tray
used.
If the last input tray is empty or if the last input source was the
duplexer,
then the Engine Test will print from Tray 2 (standard 250
CST).
If Tray 2 is empty (and the last input tray is empty or the last input
source
was the duplexer), then the Engine Test will not
function.
Printing an Engine Test HP laserjet printers 5000
series
To print an engine test, use a non-metallic object (such as
a pencil) to
press the engine test button. A single test page with
horizontal lines
will be printed. To print multiple test pages, hold down
the engine test
button.
If the engine test prints ok then you have a formatter issue...if you have added memory or a network card try taking them out one at a time to see if the problem goes away. Otherwise the formatter will have to be replaced.

This is a solution which has been suggested on another site, this has not been tested by myself so no promises.
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in slot J1.)
3. Remove all EIO devices from the printer.
4. Turn the printer on.
5. If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each device.
6. Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error.
7. Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer.
8. If the error persists, replace the firmware DIMM.
Hope it helps, as I said, not tested personally.

hi,
you can try this workaround.. most of the printing issues can be solve by doing the following steps.:
1. download the Printing diagnostic utility
2. install it, and run it.
3. when its open, click on DIAGNOS, it will give you several errors why you cant print.
4. after doing that step, click on FIX. it will automatically fix the issue.
5. after that, it will give you all green checkmarks. then try to print something.
below is the link where you can download the file "printing diagnostic utility"
