Question about Mitsubishi WS-55513 55" Rear Projection HDTV

Mitsubish WS-55807 HDTV 55" 1080

I have the 55" HDTV 55" 1080 Model WS-55807. I noticed about 2 weeks ago the picture when I first turn on the tv the picture would be warped momentarily, then normal. Now the picture is semi-permanently warped. (the colors are separated and the picture in the shape of an arc towards the middle.) I can turn off the TV for a short time and it returns to normal. How long until I totally lose the picture? What is the problem? Is one of the 3 (I think) picture guns going bad? Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

My Mitsubishi 55" CRT HD TV just started doing the same thing as of January 2009. When I first turn it on, the picture warps in the middle until it warms up. After it warms up, it is fine. I decided it probably was a solder joint that has gone bad over the life of the TV. With this in mind, I turned my TV on today 2/4/2009 and tapped the bottom of the TV with my foot and it cleared up instantly. I'm going to open up the tv and use my solder iron to re-melt the solders on the various circuit boards... I just would like to know more specifically which board has those IC's that it has been suggested are bad, so I don't have to do every circuit board in the TV...

    Any help would be appriciated!

How difficult is the replacement of the IC's. i.e. beginner, inter, advance? Is there any soldering involved? What is the $400 replacement cost entail? Any insight would be helpful!

RGB picture guns ( CRT's ) are ok. Your set needs a common
convergence circuit overhaul requiring replacement of two IC's,
part # STK392-570. Usual cost about 400.00.........T.

High Definition--WS-55807

IF the MITS has 3 component inputs blue red yellow RCA jacks on the back then yes at 480 or 720p, you'll need to attach 2 audio cables for sound. If it has a HDMI input then absolutely.

Corroded Board

The best place for board repair or replace is PTS 1-800-844-7871 Yes you would need to fill the CRT's fluid level back up. The liquid is Glycnol(Liquid anti-freeze) Poisonious yes is swallowed! So take precautions. You can get if from places like MCM electronics, Tritronics, bluestar-online.com, etc. It's called CRT coolant fluid. Yes and you would need to fix leak, probably a gasket or seal. Hope this helps!
