30.1.2= A jam has occurred in the ADF. Recommend action, turn the MFP off and then back on to try to clear the message.
If the message indicates that a jam has occurred, clear the jam, if the message is still there. Check that the cable between the print engine and the scanner is secure..
Turn the MFP off, remove all memory DIMMS or third party DIMM from the MFP (Do not remove the firmware DIMM) remove all EIO device from the MFP. Turn the MFP on
if the erropr no longer exists, reinstall each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, make sure to turn the MFP off and no again as you install each device. replaced a DIMM
or EIO device if it cause the error, if problem persists upgrade the firmware before replaced the DC controller. Replaced the formatter and calibrate the MFP.

My HP2840 is printing blank documents, how do i fix it?

Most times the problem is the selenoid that stops the carousel in the correct position to lay down each color for each page. Sometimes the selenoid sticks so the carousel goes past the correct position and hence that color does not print. To repair you have to remove the top scanning and adf and right side covers and the selenoid is located on top on the right side above the right side gears of the carousel. When removed you have to clean the glue residue off the "L" arm. You will also have to put another pad on the "L" arm otherwise the arm becomes magnetized which will make the problem worse. I use a cut down furniture leg pad. Below is a link to the service manual.

Screen says original loaded when nothing is in the adf

  1. Remove all the paper from the document feeder tray.
  2. Examine the condition of the paper, and then replace any ripped, dusty, curled, wrinkled, or bent paper.
  3. Make sure that the paper is a supported paper type for the product.
NOTE: The ADF does not accept photo paper.
  4. Make sure that all the paper in the stack is the same size and type. Never load mixed types of paper in the document feeder tray. The product can only process one type of paper at a time.
  5. Tap the edges of a stack of 10 to 25 sheets of paper on a flat surface to make sure that the edges are even.
  6. Load the stack of paper print side up in the document feeder tray.
NOTE: Do not load more than 25 pages in the document feeder tray. Larger stacks of paper can lead to pick problems. Figure 2: Reload the original document c02081020.gif Illustration of reloading the original document
  7. Press OK to continue the current task.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
Dust or paper residue on the rollers or separator pad inside the ADF can cause paper feed issues.
  1. Gather the following materials:
    • A clean, lint-free cloth, or any cloth that will not come apart or leave fibers
    • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might damage the product)
  2. Remove the stack of paper from the document feeder tray.
  3. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn off the product.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
  5. Lift the cover of the ADF, and then find the rollers and the separator pad. Figure 4: Location of the ADF rollers and separator pad c00228595.gif 1 - ADF rollers 2 - Separator pad Illustration showing locations of the ADF rollers and separator pad
  6. Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with bottled or distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.
  7. Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off of the rollers and the separator pad. Figure 5: ADF rollers c02081021.gif Photograph of ADF rollers Figure 6: ADF separator pad c02081022.gif Photograph of ADF separator pad
  8. Dry the rollers and separator pad with a dry, clean, lint-free cloth.
  9. Close the cover of the ADF.
  10. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
  11. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the product.
  12. Reload the original document print side up in the document feeder tray.
  13. Try to perform the task again.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
Perform a partial reset to restore the product settings to the default values.
  1. Write down any fax numbers and country/region and language settings stored in the product memory. CAUTION: A partial reset might remove all speed dials and other settings from the product memory.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
  3. Press and hold the # and 3 buttons at the same time while plugging the power cord into the rear of the product.
  4. Release the buttons after 30 seconds or when Part NVM Reset displays on the control panel.
  5. If the product does not turn on, press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn it on.
  6. Press OK to continue the current task.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product. If you need more help come back.Post / thumbs / testimonial are welcome!

Image class 780 ADF jamming problem

The problem could be with the ADF rollers. First open the top ADF cover and clean the rollers gently with some isopropyl alcohol on a soft cloth, let dry for about 10 minutes. Also check to see that the top seperator pad is not worn out. This pad should be cleaned as well. If this does not work the ADF rollers and the seperator pad will have to be replaced.

The document paper is crumpling as it enters the Fax Machine? I have cleared any old pieces of paper but it continues to crumple the paper???

In order for the documents to crease when entering the adf, there must be an obstruction. Since you have not mentioned the machine you have there it's harder to help. But, if you inspect the rollers and separation pad inside the adf, you may see that the sep pad has been dislodged or bent backwards or the rollers are dirty. If there is a sensor flag on your model, it may be stuck. Maybe there is a paper clip stuck somehwere along the paper path..

The ADF takes more than one sheet at a time on the Cannon IR 5000

either something is jammed in it somewhere like a paperclip or post-it note, or the separation pad may be worn. the small rubber separation pad can be found in the hatch above the ADF, it may be possible to flip it over and continue to use it, or can be replaced easily.
The part number is FF3-3984-000

Jams when you feed an original

You need to replace the black plastic holder that the ADF roller sits in as they wear and the holes get oblong shaped and cause the rollers not to operate correctly.

Missing pages

Your Doc feed needs new Rollers and Seperation Sheet/Pad, it is pulling pages, but not all the way, while the scanner continues to scan. the ADF might also need adjustment.

Automatic document feeder

you have to replace it if cleaning doesn't help.

look for the seperation tire or pad if it picks up the paper from the top first then the sep is on the bottom and vice versa. Clean that on really good this is the one that seperates the paper and stops it from feeding more than one sheet.
