I lost my samsung pl120 installation CD. My new system doesn't recognize my camera. How to get the basic software ?

For Windows 7 and 8, no drivers are needed. Yes your computer installs drivers but you get them from Microsoft direct.
Only equipment, certified by Microsoft, is allowed on these operating systems. The drivers are free. When you conned the camera to the computer, Windows will goto the Microsoft database, and get the correct driver. The software to manage the pictures, or to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer you have to install from the CD that came tithe the camera. When you lost the CD please goto the samsung website and get the software (It will be free of charge for camera owners)

Use a card reader. Since your computer has a USB port, you can get a card reader that reads SDHC cards. This is exactly how I do it on my computer.

Try to check if the camera software and driver is properly installed in your computer.

Make sure that your camera is compatible with your computer operating system.

Are you sure you purchased a genuine Samsung USB cord? Because it would be much advisable to use Samsung USB cable.

Try to go to MyAccessoryMall.com and you may purchase the cable there.

Have you tried another USB port? Sometimes, they can act goofy.
Also be sure your anti-virus isn't blocking any part of the installation.

Here is a link to the Samsung troubleshooting guide for your camera.
You can probably download the most recent driver from that website as well.
Perhaps they have a better or newer version than what came prepackaged
with the camera (just because a camera is a new purchase does not mean
the software it came with is the most updated).

I run WinXP home edition, so I am not familiar if there are any differences in the professional version regarding software installation....

well this shouldnt happen cause if you hook a usb short cable to camera the comp should recognize your camera as a new storage device under the section my computer it should be the new drive letter all the cameras ive tested on my system always gave new drive letter

you just go into the drive there where new letter is and copy and paste photos to folder you shouldnt need software for that only if your editing photos
