Do you really need the Samsung software?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Download driver for samsung wb500 to windows 8.1

For Windows 7 and 8, no drivers are needed. Yes your computer installs drivers but you get them from Microsoft direct.
Only equipment, certified by Microsoft, is allowed on these operating systems. The drivers are free. When you conned the camera to the computer, Windows will goto the Microsoft database, and get the correct driver. The software to manage the pictures, or to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer you have to install from the CD that came tithe the camera. When you lost the CD please goto the samsung website and get the software (It will be free of charge for camera owners)

Computer isn't recognizing my Samsung PL120- Instructions have read that if you connect the camera via USB the program should automatically install. It doesn't. If i look under removable devices...

Use a card reader. Since your computer has a USB port, you can get a card reader that reads SDHC cards. This is exactly how I do it on my computer.

My computer doesn't recognize my new cord for my camera

Try to check if the camera software and driver is properly installed in your computer.

Make sure that your camera is compatible with your computer operating system.

Are you sure you purchased a genuine Samsung USB cord? Because it would be much advisable to use Samsung USB cable.

Try to go to MyAccessoryMall.com and you may purchase the cable there.

Windows doesn's recognize camera, device manager says no driver

Hi -

Have you tried another USB port? Sometimes, they can act goofy.
Also be sure your anti-virus isn't blocking any part of the installation.

Here is a link to the Samsung troubleshooting guide for your camera.
You can probably download the most recent driver from that website as well.
Perhaps they have a better or newer version than what came prepackaged
with the camera (just because a camera is a new purchase does not mean
the software it came with is the most updated).

I run WinXP home edition, so I am not familiar if there are any differences in the professional version regarding software installation....

Good luck!

Device manager/USB problem?

To get your camcorder to work properly with your PC (and show up in Device Manager), you must install the software (the driver and editing software) that came with your camcorder. Your system also must meet the following minimum requirements: * CPU : Intel® Pentium III 450MHz processor compatible or better * Operating system : Windows® 98SE/ME/ 2000/XP * RAM : 128 MB or more * CD-ROM: 4x CD-ROM drive * VIDEO : 65,000-color or better video display card * Available USB port * Hard Disc : 4GB (8GB recommended) If the camcorder is still not being recognized after you have installed the software, reboot your computer, and then try another USB port or another USB cable. If your problem persists, contact Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864). Be sure to have the model number of your camcorder handy and basic information about your PC such as operating system, kind of CPU, and available memory.
