We just bought a GE gbe21dgkarww we are having trouble wth the crisper, they are freezing my fruit and vegetables. Temp. Cool on freezer on coldest

Fridge temps are actually cooled by the freezer, try turning freezer temp down somewhat-and I highly recommend buying a fridge thermometer, generally speaking I try to keep my fridge at about 34-35 degrees, you can go SLIGHTLY higher,is fridge section directly over freezer??

My whirlpool gold refrigerator will not cool. Only the bottom freezer works

Sometimes when the freezer door is cracked open a bit for too long, ice forms inside around the vent. I believe the fridge is cooled by the freezer air coming through that vent. Defrost the freezer completely, about 36 hours, and wipe it around till it is clean and dry. Then turn it back on and just wait... My Maytag fixed itself that way, and it took a few days to get cool to temp again..... Good Luck!

My fridge is not getting cold but the freezer is fine

unless you have a very high end appliance with dual controls and compressors , on most fridge's the regular item compartment is cooled by cool air from freezer , some middle models allow you to control the amount of cool air allowed into fridge compartment via a shutter between the two sides

Temperature control

The freezer is usually cooled by the compressor, the fridge is then cooled by an evaporator fan motor ($30). If this fan seizes or slows down then the fridge warms up (it sometimes starts squealing before this happens). The fan may spin, but it if goes too slowly, then it would blow enough cool air into the fridge, especially if it is opened quite frequently.

If you think it is the evaporator fan motor:
Check to be sure you can get a replacement fan first, they last about 4 - 5 years. Can get from a parts supplier or electric motor company.
UNPLUG fridge. Located usually in top of freezer behind a vented cover plate. Remove cover, remove screws holding fan in, may have to cut wires. Replace with new motor, make sure the fan pushes air into the freezer area and doesn't spin backward drawing air from the freezer area.

Fridge wont cool but frezer is fine

looks like you have a problem with the damper control. try to locate the sensor for the damper control and relocate it, if still not cold, replace it.

Hi i have a 3 way electrolux fridge. it cools perfectly well on the electric mains, I've not tried the 12v, but it fails to cool on the gas. The gas ignites but fails to cool the system.

A simple remedy to the fridge working correctly.
I wasnt aware that the mains dial turned fully to an 'OFF' position. Once I had turned the dial until it 'clicked' off, I tried the gas and it lit and cooled perfectly.

Freezer temp too high

Air must circulate in the freezer when working properly. I am guessing the recirculating vent in the freezer may be blocked which would not bring warmer air back to the coil to be cooled. As for the door, I theorize there may be too much negative pressure which pulls the door in while you were pulling out ... don't have solution yet.

Fridge not working

I've had this happen to my Kenmore 73503 several times. The 1st time took me a few hours to figure out what the problem was.

Basically the fridge is cooled from the freezer, so when you say your freezer is -2 degrees, it's a big tip off to the problem.

If you look very close in the freezer compartment at the back, you'll notice an opening with a little door at the top of the freezer compartment. This opening extends up the inside of the back of the fridge to the top of the fridge area via a square plastic tube.

Basically what happens in my fridge is the family loads the freezer to high especially at the top/back. This restricts or closes off the opening for the cold air to the fridge portion of the appliance ....resulting in a warm fridge, but cold freezer. Just remove the articles at the back of the freezer to correct problem. (It will take a few hours for the cold air to cool the fridge down)

Note: the temperature control unit in the fridge area controls the little door at the top of the freezer compartment, so if you haven't blocked off the opening, the next place to look would be either at the mechanical parts of the little door or the temperature control unit itself in the fridge
