How do I change the size of the pictures on my olympus stylus 500 digital camera. It seems the default size is SQ1 2048 x 1536. I want to change it to SQ2 640 x 480, so that when I load the pictures onto my pc and e mail them, they dont come out huge.
I have figured out how to change the size to the one that I want, but when I turn the camera off and then back on, it goes back to what seems to be the default setting.
Any ideas please ?

The problem you are describing is a problem with one of the chips in the camera that controls image processing. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.
Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $78 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.
It sounds like you set the file settings to a small file size - perhaps in order to get more photos on a single memory card. You need to change the setting to the largest file size possible, at the highest quality. The steps for this will be in your manual. If you need detailed instructions and don't have your manual, let me know and I'll lookup your manual online.
have you tried using lithium batteries? alkaline batteries. just try out different batteries. if it is still the same, have your camera checked in a service center for maybe it needs a replacement or there is something loose inside.
