What specific model of JVC multi-system TV do you have? What is the signal source?

The majority of the JVC multi-system TVs that I've researched only have analog tuners (NTSC, PAL). The AV-29LX is an example of the older JVC TVs. Since most over-the-air signals are digital, you will need a digital-to-analog OTA signal converter to watch any signal from an aerial TV. If you have a cable system that has upgraded to digital cable, you will need a cable box.

Converter boxes are harder to find but there are a few remaining. Here's one for the US: http://www.amazon.com/Magnavox-DTV-Digital-Analog-Converter/dp/B0013ZKZGU .

I wish that I had better news for you.

(A few low-power stations still broadcast in the analog format. However, you have to be really close to the station or have an outdoor antenna to have a chance at receiving the signal.)

Lost channels when rescanned

I would be talking to my satellite or Cable provlider. Doesn't sound like you have a problem with your TV because if it will pick up one channel it will pick up all them.

Does not pick up standard channels for recording let alone digital channels

Are you trying to pick up standard analog channels (the kinds that have a fuzzy gray screen when there's no signal)? Those stopped functioning in 2009 when the nation ended the analog broadcast. You can only get digital channels now, except for a low-power broadcast station here and there. Nowadays for analog, TVs mostly pick up only radio stations.

Are you trying to still tune an old TV to pick up analog channels over the air? Analog OTA broadcasts no longer exist.

Skips past all channels after 13. CableVision

I don't know the exact step to set it because I don't know you model TV. When you go to menu set channels it should give you the option to choose cable or air. If you pick cable all your channels will be in VHF which is what you want. If you pick air the first 13 channels will be VHF and the rest will be UHF which cable don't work on. After you pick cable then auto program and you should get all your channels. If this helps you and I hope it does give me a vote please.

Dont not pick up freeview channels

if u pick up NON freeview channels, i think the antenna isnt good enough to pick up the signal..freeview requires a very good signal, very important.
If you think this isnt the problem rescan the channels
If you think the TV is faulty contact Samsung directly

Channels

Hit the menu button, find and enter setup (or channels)
Choose cable or antenna (what you have)...... then make the set "autoprogram". It will add all channels into the tv memory.
