Mitsubishi WD-60638 firmware

Try to update my Mitsubishi WD-60638 DLP TV firmware. Followed the instructions. It stay at the welcome screen for an hour. Try to restart the firmware update by turning it off. Now its stuck at the welcome screen now. Wont get pass that. I've try to redue the firmware update over and over but nothing. Update: I just released that the usb port isnt getting any power. Normally when I plug my usb into a port, it lights up but with the tv's port, it doesnt light up. Plugged in my Ipod (because if its plugged into a usb port, the screen turns on)into the tv usb port but nothing. This tells me no powers getting to the port. I just want to know what part do I need to replace in order for it to work. The Formatter Board or the main board?

I think my best line of attack would be to replace the main board. Formatter Board wont do much good without input\outputs from the main board.

Had the same issue with my Mitsubishi WD-65638. Did an update and ever since then it just gets stuck at the blue screen. I know its the board because when I use to plug my usb into one of the usb slots in the back, the usb be would light up. Now it doesn't light up at all which tells me no powers running through the board. I also tried this with my Mini Ipod (which lights up when plugin into a usb slot)

Make sure software was in top menu in USB stick. Not ib a folder. Try reset buttons on front of TV. Could be bad e2p module. (boot firmware.)

Did your replace lamp come on the screen or did you lose picture? Just because the LED indicator suggest replace lamp it doesn't mean it needs it. If your pix was dull or loss of brightness then replace it, if not then just reset your lamp timer, check your owners manual for instructions.

SOURCE: Wd-73C9 Power on TV and gets stuck on Welcome

My WD-65C9 is doing the same thing. I got the update and it did not work. Only make sense, why would an upgadre fix a problem, it would give you more features or fix color problem that have always been there, but to fix a lockup. I think it is the mainboard from what I have read on the net.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi 73" DLP powers on, through welcome

If you are getting at turn on source and back ground is all blue the set will shut down rather quickly;

I have a suggestion, if it works fine, and if not it will not hurt anything.

with original Mitsubishi remote turn set on and then Menu, 1,2,3, enter.

This is the soft reset that most of these sets have (cannot be sure since Model number above is correct?)

The reset button on the front (if it has it) just shuts the set down and reboots the DM unit inside.

Most of these sets when it is pressed the green light will blink for about 70 seconds and go out; that is the DM unit rebooting and the soft restart is something else.

Let me know what you find before you rate this information.

I have a mitsubishi tv model wd 60638 I changed the lamp. Tv works fine for about 20 minutes then I start to smell like something is burning then picture starts to flicker, what could could cause this

You have a bad connector in the lamp. Stop running the TV immediately and contact the company you purchased the lamp from. this is common in older DLP tvs but not in one 5 years old unless you have a lot of hours on it. the connector can crack and arc inside the plug and then melt and smell terrible. It usually very repairable if you can get a ballast for it. the plug is part of the ballast.

Replaced lamp in my mitsubishi wd 60638 dlp but now I have a flickering picture

Sounds like a new lamp that is generic (not Mitsubishi) as the set does not know which lamp is in the set--works with one and not the other you have found your problem.

Mitsubishi wd 65737, tv gets to the welcome screen then turns off. What is the problem?

Try unplugging the power cord for 60 seconds and plugging it back in. We had the same problem and that worked the first time we tried it. The problem is back and, after some frustration, the manufacturer recommend updating the software. Contact your local Mitsubishi service rep. to obtain updated software and instructions. Good luck!
