SKA535P1 After much shaking, got the charge indicator to go to 11 seconds, then it quickly reverted to the 6 second indicator. Then, after about 2 minutes of shaking, it went all the way to the 25 second marker. But quickly (in minutes) reverted back to the 6 second marker. Is it the charge indicator or the keeping of charge itself that is perhaps faulty?

Hi , like all capacitor based watches you will need a lot of activity to put the charge back in and use the watch as the daily wear.
the other issues could be it requires a new capacitor contact seiko.

This watch does not have a battery, but has a capacitor which is rechargable. It is not taking a charge, and needs to be replaced. You should take it to a store with a watchmaker ON THE PREMISES. Or you could send it to: www.bscwatchrepair.com

Charge indicator on my Seiko Kinetic watch does not work. Watch keeps good time. Is there a fix?

Bill, when you say "does not work" I am going to guess you mean that the second hand does not sweep as it should, so you do not have an accurate indication of remaining capacitor charge.
There are many other malfunctions of the Indicator on a Seiko Kinetic but I am guessing that is your current watches malfunction.
The button at 2 o'clock depresses a tiny lever inside the watch, and that in turn releases a discharge from the capacitor.
The strength of that discharge swings the indicator.
The lever itself is very very small, and can be misaligned, very commonly after capacitor replacement.
Actual breakage of the lever is quite rare.
Does the button have a definite detente when you press it?
Or is it instead like pushing on Jello.
Is the button spring loaded such that it returns to the neutral state on its own?
It is actually a quick diagnosis for anyone familiar with Kinetics; as a quick peek will tell if a broken lever, absent button gasket, need of lubricant, etc.

My watch is 3 hours and 5 minutes off its a shp8948

1. Since all of the settings seem to go through the start/stop button, hold it down for three seconds to put it in "set the watch mode" (when the seconds at the bottom start blinking).
2. Do a quick press of the start/stop button to move from seconds to minutes to hours to years to months to days. The mode button subtracts & the reset button adds.
3. Setting alarms & so on require putting it alarm mode via the mode button. Use the reset button to move to the selected alarm (1-5).
4. Hold the start/stop button for three seconds to "set the alarm mode."
5. Quickly press the start/stop button to between things to set (kind of alarm, hours, minutes).
6. Again, the mode button subtracts & the reset button adds.
7. A three-second press of the start/stop button exits the setup mode.

My 5 year old Seiko kinetic (divers') watch: beyond shaking, is there a way to wind it? I used to be able to press the power button and see the second hand advance 20 seconds. Now I never have enough...

I am going to make an assumption or two. One is you wear your watch regularly. At least every other day. Two is you are not sedentary. Try wearing the watch for three days. If the power indicator doesn't read at least 15 to 20 you have a bad cell (capacitor). If it does charge up to 15 to 20 then see if it lasts very long. Should last a couple weeks or more. If not then you still have the same problem. You can also go to a watchmaker and he will have a piece of equipment that can charge your cell in 3 1/2 hours. Then if the cell goes dead rapidly he/she will replace it. Should cost around 50 or less.

I have not worn my SEIKO kinetic wrist watch for a

Here is the information from the website. The link to the manual is provided below. HOW TO CHARGE AND START THE WATCH Swing the watch from side to side approximately 50 times. * Before swinging the watch, check and remember where the minute hand is so that you can tell if the start-up indicator has worked or not. First, check that the crown is at the normal position. * If the crown is pulled out and the watch is swung, the start-up indicator will not work even if the watch starts operating. * Swing rhythmically at a rate of twice a second. * No additional benefit is obtained by swinging the watch more quickly or with greater vigor. * When the watch is swung, the oscillating weight in the generating system rotates to drive the mechanism. As it rotates, it gives out a sound, which is not a malfunction. 1 2 The minute hand moves quickly and stops as the watch starts operating. (Start-up indicator) Then, it will move at 20-second intervals. 3 After checking that the minute hand has done this, pull out the crown to set the time. 4 After pushing back the crown in to the normal position, swing the watch further approximately 350 times to reserve one day of power, and then, put the watch on your wrist. http://www.seikowatches.com/support/ib/pdf/1m20_e.pdf Good luck, Techjoel

How to set up time on TAG HEUER SLR CHRONOGRAPH ? what are the functions of the 2 boutons and 2 crowns ?

The crown at 3 o'clock is used to set the time and change modes. The crown at 9 o'clock is used to rotate the flange at the edge of the dial.
The A button at approximately 2 o'clock starts and stops the chronograph function. The B button at approximately 4 o'clock resets the chronograph.

Lap Timer: When the watch is displaying normal time, press the right side crown to switch to chrono mode (the hour hand will indicate CHRONO). This watch measures lap times, press A to start timing the first lap. Press A again to stop the first lap and automatically start timing the second lap (the hour hand will move to indicate you're on the second lap), and so on. You can measure up to 20 laps this way. When you're fininshed timing laps, press the right side crown to see the best lap time. To reset the lap timer, hold down B for 2 seconds. To switch out of chrono and see the normal time, just press the right side crown in.

Chronongraph: To time an interval that is not a lap, just follow the above instructions, but instead of pressing A to stop the first lap, press B and the watch will show the elapsed time to the nearest 1/100th of a second. Hold B to reset.

Crown at 9 o'clock: This crown rotates the inner flange at the edge of the dial and is used to measure total race time (i.e. the total of all the laps). Simply rotate the crown until the the little start trinagle on the flange is aligned with the minute hand. This way, the total elapsed time can be read at any time, similarly to how a rotating bezel works.

To set the time: Ensure the watch is not in CHRONO mode, if so, press the right side crown in. At this time pull the right side crown out until you feel a click. The position the second hand moves to indicates what is currently being set. If the second hand is at 9 o'clock, you are setting am hours, press A repeatedly to set am hours. Then press B and the second hand will move to 6 o'clock, pressing A repeatedly will set the minutes. So on for year (11 o'clock), month (12 o'clock), and day (1 o'clock).
