Picture shows only about a 2-3" blue, green,or red vertical line down the middle
I have a 3 yrs old panasonic projection screen HDTV Model PT-47WX53 Chassis AP825 that has perfect audio, but the picture shows only about a 2-3" blue, green,or red light line vertically in the center of the entire screen (depending on the color of what image is on the channel at that time). I replaced one of the STK ICs (IC7001) but that didn't seem to help much. In a similiar solution it was said to be one capacitor in the HV area but no more details were given, and The Service manual I have isn't really helpful. Anything to help me figure this out is very appreciated.
Re: Picture shows only about a 2-3" blue, green,or red...
If your seeing vertical line across the screen you need to check the components in the vertical stage as well as the vertical IC could be bad, or the yoke could open.
Also check if any voltage reaching the vertical stage.

I am not familiar with that particular model but most are similar.
It may need the blue focus adjusted. Most tv's have some type of automatic focus. If the blue is out of focus it can "bloom" beyond the red and green. There should be a focus block with 6 adjustments (2 rows of 3) behind the speaker cover. I wouldn't mess with the one labeled screen or block. Adjust very carefully. They are usually in the order Red-Green-Blue with the focus on the bottom row.
Most likely a blown Vertical deflection output IC. In most (but not all) Panasonic, the vertical IC is an AN55XX.
Repairs should be fairly easy with basic knowledge of electronic circuitry and components and a little soldering. I would expect the IC to be readily available at any electronics part store. Should you be uncomfortable doing a DIY, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
You are on the right track. The problem is actually with the green convergence IC that controls the alignment. The convergence ic's take the information from the 3 pictures and align them into one picture on the back of your screen. Although this is an economical repair it is complicated and should be left to a quailfied service technician. If you are not sure of a local technician, panasonic's website has a servicer locator that can guide you to one. Hope this helps
The PT-53WX54 is a standard projection set and does not have a bulb. It has 3 separate picture tubes. If you have lost the picture completely, not even on-screen menu, then something has stopped working in your set. It could be a video processor, vertical deflection or possibly a convergence problem. The set should be serviced by a qualified tech familiar with the Panasonic projection sets.
