First, Install the K-lite Codec Pack, if you haven't already.

Now, take your video you want and encode/re-encode it with your favorite video encoder software. It must be 320 x 240 for it to show up properly on the Onyx. It must be in .avi format and it is a good idea to use MPEG-4 video and MP3 audio with this. It CANNOT be anamorphic (16x9), it MUST be 4:3 output and DO NOT keep the aspect(sp) ratio. Your resulting video when played should look small(ish) and square.
Okay.

Now load up this: http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm
Select the .avi you made as the input video. Choose an output directory. Where it say "quality", choose "custom".

Choose audio quality as 22k.
Video should be around 30k (I think the "k" means Kbps, I think)
Choose Fullscreen, NOT Full Image.
Choose Landscape.
Framerate should be "same as source"
Image size should be 128 X 160

This should give you 181MB/Hour. You can also choose the 200MB/hour preset, but to tell the truth, I never tried it, I always go custom.

Now hit "convert", wait for it to finish, and you should be left with an .smv file. Load this to the "MVIDEO" folder on your Onyx, and enjoy!

Peace.

I deleted some videos from my sony handycam DCR-SR68

First thing to note is that the deleted data on the sony handycam will remain there until something new is saved and overwrites it.

Either connect sony handycam straight to a PC using a USB cable or take the memory card out and put it in a card reader attached to the PC. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Computer.

Then try a camera recovery software on the PC. This should recognise the sony handycam or card and then you can scan it using the free download of good data recovery software. That will show you what files still exist on the camera or card and what can be recovered.

I deleted video from my sony sr47 handycam, it now shows a broken icon where the video was, can I recover these?

I have had success with this file recovery program called asoftech data recovery... Download the data recovery program
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the file recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Next" and wait for it to do it's magic.

I accidently deleted a video from my flip video camera. I bought and recovered the files with smartundelete program but it only play one file. The rest will not play. One is really important to me. What...

You may try this video recovery software called asoftech data recovery which helped me before. You can download trial for free
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

Please be noted that your flip camera memory should show as a drive letter in your explorer, if not, you need to take out your memory card and connect using a card reader, or plug-in to card reader slot if there's any on your computer.

I dont know how to download music from the computer to the mp3 i just need to understand how to do it and where to go so i can.. thank you

First you need to plug it in to the USB port, if you are running anything newer than windows 98 you won't need a driver. Double click on my computer and it shows up as a removable disc(usually drive letter f:), double click this drive to open it as folder. This folder will show you all directory's and files on your player, here you can delete any songs on your player by finding the file and deleteing it. From here you can also put your music onto the player by copying and pasting your music files from your hard drive. If you are not sure where your music is located you can run a search by clicking START>SEARCH>FOR FILES OR FOLDERS (if you are running XP click pictures music or video, check music then click search, each file will have it's location in small print below it's name, or you can right click each song and hit copy, then go back to f: drive and right click and hit paste, you can copy more than one). Hope this helps. RICHARDM69
