You have a problem with the lid lock assembly and it will need to be replaced. Here is the part to order. I also have the service manual if you should need it.

I had the same problem. Then I discovered that the Bendix USA WDS1043 / WDC1024 is the same, or almost the same, as a Splendide Comb-o-matic 6000. You can find an extensive parts manual at
