I use to start up a 25 HP Ingersol screw type compressor. The only alarms I got were from power spikes which just needed the reset button to be pushed, then the on button - and the low oil sensor would shut it down and give an alarm when the tank was about half way down. They will blow up with no oil so there is a saftey margin on oil level.

Check defective HATS or Airend is defective. HATS means High Airend Temperature Switch.
