This is en external HDD. This means, there's a HDD inside the package, and a small PCB (print with tiny ICs on it). If you're lucky, the PCB is defective, while the HDD is OK. In that case, you only need to look for another USB Harddisk enclosure for a 2.5 inch SATA harddisk. Maybe your local computer-store sell these casings, otherwise check internet (eBay for example)

To be sure it's either the HDD or the PCB, just open up the casing and remove the HDD. Insert this HDD into a PC, connecting it to the motherbord over a SATA-cable (and don't forget to use a powercable too).

If the HDD becomes visible under Windows or whateven operating System you use, than it's indeed the PCB, which is defective. If the HDD is not visible, maybe the HDD is defective. In such case, you can find at internet a new(er) HDD of identical make (brand / type HDD)

There is no monetery pcb in a canon copier. If the model is a larger one the boot comes from the HDD. It could be a bad HDD or bad sist

1) Are the connection and the cable of the connector (J1017) on the main controller PCB and the connector (J1551) on the hard disk drive normal? NO: Correct the cable connection.Hard disk drive (HDD), Main controller PCB
2) Try replacing the hard disk drive and downloading the system software.Is the problem corrected?
YES: End. NO: Replace the main controller PCB.

3) HDD unit.
Remove the rear upper cover and the reader rear cover. Remove the three screws, and detach the cover, Remove the two screws and disconnect the two connectors then, remove the HDD unit. Remove the six screws and detach the HDD When mounting the HDD unit,be sure that the flat cable is under the plastic sheet of the HDD upper case.

Solution 1# :
It can be a Sector Problem ,to resolve it just press 1&9 keys at the same time the machine started the HD Diagonose and it repared the sector error without replacing the HDD .

Solution 2# :
try to go in to disc check service mode to clear the sectors ,this should work if it doesnt you will need to replace the hard drive .

Solution 3# :

exact problem here but for the st3500320as

E602 error means that there is a Hard Disk Drive problem ( 2.5inches Toshiba HDD that you should order to Canon, only a few models of HDD works on this machine )
