Just spoke with ya in chat... ya left a little too soon :-)

You should be able to upgrade that processor to around 1ghz (1000mhz). That will double your cpu speed.

And shop around online for some PC-133 SDRAM for your model of pc. Get that thing up to at least 512mb of system memory and you will probably be alot happier with it's performance! If all you generally do is email and surf the net, no need to drop the bucks on a new machine if your looking for just a little more speed. Unless your wanting something newer anyway, then go for it. But you should be able to upgrade that one yourself for easily under $100 if you shop the parts online.

Can you install windows xp on a ibm 380ed laptop

Hi there,
You need to make sure your laptop meet the minimum hardware requirements for windows XP . (see below)
I believe your system has a Pentium MMX 166 MHZ processor which will not be able to run XP properly.
But that's not all, You also need to make sure IBM Lenovo provides drivers for all the hardware on your 380ED, which I don't believe it does.

Minimum hardware requirements

  • Pentium 233-megahertz (MHz) processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)
  • At least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM (128 MB is recommended)
  • At least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available space on the hard disk
  • CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
  • Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
  • Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution
  • Sound card
  • Speakers or headphones

Will hallmark card studio 8 work on windows 7

you are going to run on windows 7 since hallmark card studio 8 needs systems configuration such as Windows XP or Vista, Pentium III 500 MHz, 600MB of hard disk space, 2GB for full install,16-bit color, and color printer.
So have fine work!

I recently purchased and installed the P191W monitor, and now my pictures are stretched. I was told I new to get a new graphics card. What card should I get? Or can I just update the driver? I am running...

Find your monitor's native resolution, in your case it's 1440x900. Go to display settings (usually right-click on desktop and choose properties), go to settings tab and move the resolution slider until it shows 1440x900. Confirm, the screen should flicker for a moment and adjust - and you should be fine.
If there is no 1440x900 resolution available, then installing a monitor .inf file that came on a disk accompanying the monitor might help.

How to upgrade win 95 to winxp without removing files installed

A computer running Windows 95 WILL NOT RUN Windows XP in most cases. Post all of your hardware details and we can explore that further.

Most programs that run on Windows 95 WILL NOT RUN under Windows XP easily. There are some compatibility things you can try for each one, but most simply will crash, and some will seem to work for a while then crash at inopportune moments.

What you should do is buy an newer computer with Windows XP, remove your current hard drive, and put your current hard drive as a second drive in the new computer. You will have access to your documents, but your programs will not run.

Hello.......

since you are using an obsolete model and computer specs, i don't think this can actually support windows XP in optimal settings.. You might want to install windows 98 on this machine to be able to use it properly.

note: you may think that this machine is working really slow because you tend to compare it on the newer machines that you are using. If that's the case, then you are definitely right that it's slower. This is because the machine is really old. KUDOS to you though for having a working machine that is this old. I used to have one about 4 years ago and it was one of the best during its time. :)

Upgrade from 600 MHz to 1 GhZ

According to this review, you can upgrade as far as a 2 GHz P4-M at least; http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,669029,00.asp Other than that, i have been unable to find the details of your motherboard - if you can post the make and model (should be printed on it somewhere) then I would hope to find a more complete list of compatible and incompatible processors. Gateway themselves no longer offer online info or support for this model, but the motherboard details should enable me to find out what you need to know. Waiting for your post :)
