Black spots are more likely to indicate a partial failure of the DLP chip. The lamp cannot produce such a symptom sadly.

Repair will be quite expensive...

Replace the lamp and reset the lamp timer.

Lamp timer can be reset by holding down the up arrow key and then following the easy on-screen instructions.

SOURCE: Hi there my benq dlp

This is caused by dust on the lens assembly. If you can remove the lens, clean the surfaces with a lens cloth. That should resolve the problem. It is possible that the there is dust in the optical pathway inside the unit as well. If the cleaning of the lens does not resolve the problem, the unit should be brought in for a professional cleaning. It is not suggested that anyone open up these units as there are fine adjustments that can be changed internally easily that could result in convergence problems.

SOURCE: Infocus IN24 Projector has large Dark Grey/Black

There is a lens(looks like a small magnifying glass) made out of plastic that the light shines through to focus the light on the mirror before it hits the DLP chip, that lens is Melted in the center. I unfortunately had the same thing happen to me, and I am unable to find a replacement part.

The projector will turn on normally, but after about 20 seconds the screen will go black and the "temp" and "lamp" alarm lights will flash on and off. I've changed the filter and we...

if you are replacing the lamp by yourself, and if you are touching the lamp body with your fingers, the lamp will be damadged fastly; because the lamp is sensible. the temperature of the lamp increase abnormally so the message 'temp' and 'lamp' increase. to solve the problem you need to replace a new lamp, but you have to install it at the BenQ service it's free.

The Lamp won't strike

if the inside of the lamp has bulges, black spots or fogging, replace the lamp. otherwise, if you have a dlp projector, it may be the colorwheel or the ballast. if you have an lcd projector, it may be the ballast.

Have black dust looking spots on my screen.

Howdy;
Yes there is a way. The easiest for you would be to remove the back top of the TV. That will give acess to opt lense and mirror. But first check the Lamp and inspect the lense that the Lamp into. It does not take a lot to cause your concern. Use super soft cloth and wipe surfaces.

Good Luck,Big Irish.

Lamp will not stay on more that a minute or so. Why? All of the fans are working and none of the vents are clogged but it is like a thermal switch shuts the lamp off.

if the projector is overheating, it will shut down. blow out the projector with canned air. the dust keeps in the heat that the fans are trying to expell. if it has shut down from heat to often, you'll need to replace the thermosensor. if you are not sure it's temp related, check the lamp for bulges and black spots. replace lamp if necessary.

My samsung hcn4727w will not come on. when pushing the power button it sounds like it's coming on and goes right off.what could this be?

Well we need to have in mind that a generic lamp will give you 3500 to 4500 lamp hours and the Phillips will give you 6000 to 8000 lamp hours ,The lamp itself typically uses AC current and about 15,000 volts to ignite the lamp's mercury vapor gas. The gases inside the lamp react when electricity charges up the mercury gas creating very bright light. The voltage drops to keep the flow of electricity to the lamp.
The symptom of a bad ballast is that you could hear a constant CLICKING or electrical BUZZING sound,my recomendation is to take out the lamp to physically check for any sings,(shatter fillement, black or grey spots in the fillement or smoke ) you can get good deals at http://www.discount-merchant.com/?click=52978

Just got a new bulb assembly in today brand-new inserted it made sure everything was seated properly after about 45 minutes a large black spot appeared never had this trouble before put the old assembly...

dcamp77262, you mention that the new lamp worked for 45 minutes and then the dark spot appeared, was this the same with the previous lamp and was the previous lamp the original that came with the projection unit? If you're using a replacement lamp(not original equipp) won't be the first time that they send a lamp that does not match the ome lamp, it also could be (very possible) that you're going to need light engine replacement or repaired.

BENQ FLAHING

Hi cvijr

This can only one of two things - the lamp or the Ballast ( lamp's powersupply )

Normally the PB6100/6200 lamp's has got markings on the lamp itself when this flickering occurs.

Take out the lamp by unscrewing the lamp door at the bottom. Then look for any vein like looking marks in either black or white. Or even a bubble at the bottom end of the lamp's shaft.

If you can spot anything out of order , then the lamp will need replacement.

If not , then you'll know for sure that it is the Ballast that is in need of either repair or replacement.

Part Numbers :

Ballast :5D.J8612.011

Lamp : 60.J8618.CG1

Hope this is of help and thanks for using Fixya !

Benq MP610 does not project any picture

OK , then this is positively a Mainboard problem.

Check if this unit is still under warranty as the BenQ MP Series came out with a standard 3 year warranty and in which case will cover the replacement of this part.
