Question about AT&T 1738 Digital Answering Machine

1 Answer

Cuts off message in the middle

When recording a message, machine will sometimes (about 20% of the time) cut it off in the middle, even when machine is not full. This can happen when it is the only message, but especially when call is made from a cell phone. When I try to retreive it remotely, it plays only part of the message and then you can't get any messages after it either. Sometimes hitting 4, then 1, or 4, then 2, will get it unstuck and it will play. Or, calling back later sometimes does the trick. I had an old (10 years) machine that did this so I bought  a new one and it does exactly the same thing. When I go to the machine, it plays fine, but this is impractical. What can I do about this short of buying another brand?

A caller hears my announcement but the machine cuts off before a messages can be recorded

There a chance your machine recorded too many messages, which actually means, the memory is full and should be cleaned / wiped.
Check the manual or download it here and see for page 5 at subtitle deleting messages.

Hi i have a problems in message recording in answering machine, not always but sometimes incoming phone messages are cut out in the middle. please help me!!! thanks charlie

Hi.
That is a not uncommon problem with some fax and answering machines.
It can happen for a variety of reasons but maily because the caller speaks too softly, or there is some noise on the line.
The only way to make sure it does not happen, switch the answering mode to a fixed time.
Settings vary, but it can be as long as a minute or longer.
This way the machine will keep recording regardles of wether there is anyone talking or not.

KENMORE ELITE CALYPSO

Call Kenmore if you bought it new they may have a record of your serial number and be able to tell you what the error message means and if you need a service call to fix or you can do it yourself. my serial number is on the back of the washer on a sticker or a typed silver tag that is attached to the washer.

Answering machine cuts message off

Sometimes if the person isn't talking loud enough the machine may "think" there is nobody there, so it simply hangs up.

GE Telephone answering machine will not work

I'm assuming this is a digital recorder and does not use a tape. Any chance the memory is full and you need to erase messages to free up space for new recordings?
