The amp probably has a x-over knob, a bass boost knob, and an eq knob. the eq is probably an internal crossover switch that will take the output from either high range (tweeters) or full range (6x9s) or low pass (subs) leave it on low pass. the bass boost however, will add distortion if turned up too high. its not noticable in the car, actually it sounds louder in the car but if you open the trunk and listen, you can tell its distorted bass and actually frying your speakers. the x-over knob is used to tune the frequency at which the amp stops pushing out bass tones. if you like rock music loud, turn it up higher, if you like low deep rap bass, turn it lower. keeping it too high might give you bad sound from either type though. ALSO THE GAIN OR LEVEL.IT IS NOT TO MAKE YOUR SUBS LOUDER IT WILL BLOW THEM .the gain is used to set your amp to your head unit which there is a procedure to do it.

try isolating if the ground is the issue and ground it to something else using an extension wire and perhaps the hinge of the car door.

If that is it then find another permanent ground

How to fix a gt5 peavey rockmaster amplifier
Hi. My name is Danielle and I have a peavey rockmaster GT-5 guitar mini amp, and it can work with/without the cable. I lost the cable and I didn't need to worry because the amp still worked as long as it had good batteries. But, after about 4 months of no use of it, I put in a brand new battery and the light wouldn't turn on. I looked all over the amp to see if something was missing but I found nothing. I'm really not sure what to do because this is a very good amp and I'd hate to throw it away. Can anyone Help Me?

I have a jbl gt series gt5 a3011 amp light on top comes on but the power light doesnt fuses are good everything seems to be connected right and no sound to speakers .
Run a jumper between the power wire and the remote (disconnect the remote wire from the head unit first). If the amp turns on, you got a blown fuse, or other problem with the remote turn on from the head unit.

I would check your ground. Grounds can cause all kinds of problems. You said you checked the fuses. Get a DMM and see if your getting voltage at the + & - at the amp terminals. I would change the fuses in the amp itself anyways, because somtimes they will go bad and you may not be able to tell by looking at it. Its happen to me before....Hope this helps

Gran Tourismo 5 problem
Ensure PS3 is up to date, V.2.41. Also GT5 Prolouge Spec 2 should be intalled. This should clear any bugs in the system and sort GT5. A new update for GT5 is out on the 1st August.

I am using the JBL amp GT5-A604E. It was working fine. last week the car battery was replaced by a new one 12v/66A from Amron. After this the RED light(protect LED) is always ON and the amplifier wont turn ON. I checked the wiring and no problems were found. My speaker configuration is 3 channel mode. Front left speaker connected to Front L+ and L- Front right speaker connected to Front R+ and R- Subwoofer connected to Rear R+ and L- Please help.
