Finger Print Reader is not Working on my Acer Aspire 5738 laptop with Windows XP installed on it. kindly

    thanks for reply. But I have already installed all drivers that comes with laptop. As the laptop was preinstalled with Linux. I have formatted the HDD and installed Windows XP (SP-2) over it. Still finger print did'nt work. Also from where I can get Acer's pre-installed softwares (i.e. Acer Arcade? Deluxe featuring Cinema, Album, Music, Acer HomeMedia; Acer eRecovery Manager
    Acer PowerSmart Manager
    Acer Bio-Protection
    Acer Crystal Eye
    Acer GridVista?
    Acer Game Console
    Acer GameZone)

ACER 5738 is an 64-bit machine. Acer website had only posted the 64 bit driver for the finger print reader. And i think the xp sp2 you have installed is 32-bit. 64-bit driver is not compatible with 32-bit OS . so try to install vista home 64-bit , then try to install the driver. even the xp 64-bit is not working properly with that driver, so try vista 64-bit. NOW YOU ARE IN GREAT TROUBLE , SINCE YOU HAVE TAKE ACER LAPTOP ha ha ha .. see what happens in future.... thanks & regards ... pushpak nayak

yes offcourse, to use finger print security you should have a finger print reader software
if you not have this go to acer website and download it.
after installing this you should configure yourself information in software and no one can run your machine without your permission.

Sir, you didn't mention your Operating System (Like Windows XP,Vista..), you need to install the drivers for Finger Print recognition, I'm attaching the driver download link for Windows Xp below, kindly download and install it, and after a reboot you will be able to set it up.
If your operating system is other then Windows XP, do tell me, I'll arrange the drivers for that specific OS, in case.

Bluetooth not working on acer aspire 5738
Hi tallyman,
you lost bet ...when it has a bluetooth switch it will have a hardware installed.
Best solution is got is a simple call to acer service support,the problem very very simple in 5738 machines they installed foxcom bluetooth device a very much updated version.But the drives in your cd will be broadcom drivers install aspire 3810T model bluetooth drivers.

Can Acer aspire 5738 support Windows XP os?
Yes you can, good choice. one thing the comment above me didnt mentioned was that you need to change the settings on your disk in BIOS to native IDE and not sata.(if sata the windows installation doesent find your DISKS.) good luck

Acer Aspire 5738 laptop Finger not working on VISTA
It is Better do this : Instead of Updating the drivers, roll back the driver first and unintall the Hardware Totally from your system through the device manager. Next, restart your system, and then it prompts for 'New Hardware Found', use the Finger Printer Driver That you have, to re-install it afresh, if you dont have you can download it from here :
http://www.getpcmemory.com/drivers/download-acer-aspire-5738-5738g-5738z-notebook-windows-xp-drivers/

After that, restart your system again. It should work like that now.
