DGGF3042KF Fridgidaire Stove ignitors are ticking when oven is pulgged in - the gas is currently turned off and stove is unplugged. Gas professional said that the stove's ignition has gone and will need to be replaced. I'm looking to see how much this would cost me to fix vs how much an appliance repair person would charge.

Good Afternoon Shan,

I understand that you had your gas professional out to look at your Frigidaire range, model# DGGF3042KF, for the stove igniters ticking while the appliance is plugged in. I see that they stated to you that the igniter system has gone out and will need to be replaced. It really could be a hit or miss calculation in parts so I would personally reach out to an experienced technician to ensure the appropriate replacement parts are ordered and installed correctly to prevent future issues. Parts are often costly and if the problem is precisely diagnosed, it can save you a lot of time and funds. Hope this has been helpful.

-Best Regards-

SOURCE: Oven won't light on low settings (170), no trace gas smell.

Igniting bar located on the inside of the oven it is a rectangular piece with one or two screws. It is basically a heating element that also controls the gas. Change that ignitor and it should fix it no problem.

SOURCE: I have a frigidaire GAS stove. Oven doesn't work.

Hello,
Even though the ignitor glows it does not mean that it is working...sounds crazy but it is true... the ignitor needs to pull a certain amperage to let the gas valve open and as they get older they stop pulling enough current...
Check out this tip I wrote about this problem...

My oven is not working. At the bottom of the stove the ignitor light comes on, but gas doesn't come on. I would like to fix the problem, can you instruct me on how to fix my oven. I want to bake...

The ignitor is probably weak. You have a good circuit because the oven control is trying to light burner. The gas valve is alo fine because it is allowing current to flow. The ignitor with age does not draw enough current to light off the stove.

Maytag oven doesn't fire, but stovetop burners work fine

This will sound crazy but I had to work through it on my own stove a few years ago. The ignitor (glow tube) was getting hot but the oven would not owrk. When investigating the problem I found that the gas valve will only open when the ignitor pulls a specific amperage or draw of current. As the ignitor ages it pu;;s a reduced draw of current. This causes you to be fooled by the glow nut no gas. Replace your ignitor and your oven will begin to work again!
You can get ignitors easily online by doing a search for "appliance parts" and then entering the model number of your stove. Look for ignitor and you will be good to go. Also check out a few different sites as the prices of the parts can vary quite a bit.

The electrodes are ticking when we turn on the burners

THAT IS THE IGNITOR FOR THE GAS. TURN THE KNOB JUST BEYOND THE START POSITION AND IT SHOULD STOP. IF NOT UNPLUG THE STOVE AND FIND THE IGNITOR ON THE BURNER HEAD AND CLEAN IT WITH A SOFT TOOTHBRUSH. PLUG THE STOVE IN AND IT SHOULD STOP CLICKING

I need to change my oven ignitor and I need a diagram to show where it is located. I have a Frigidaire model FGF353BADB. Free standing gas stove/oven.

Here's a diagram of the oven along with the Oven Ignitor (Part #19 on the diagram) and the Broiler Ignitor, (Part #26 on the diagram). They are located behind the gas deflectors located at the top and bottom inside the oven compartment, accessible from inside the oven, but you'll need to remove the rear panel at the outside back of the stove to disconnect the terminals tha supply voltage to the ignitors.

Be sure to turn the breaker off and/or unplug the range from the 220V-AC outlet first.

I have a Frigidaire stove, model fgf316asa, and the oven does not heat. The ignitor still glows but does not ignite the gas. I cannot hear the gas coming from the line. What's wrong?

Hi, You should change the ignitor. Even tho it glows, the ignitor is to weak to open the gas valve. UNPLUG the oven. Remove the floor panel in the oven and you sill be able to see the ignitor. This is very common with gas stoves.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

Whirlpool gas oven-Super Capacity 465

When you turned the oven off, if the ignitor went off and the gas kept flowing then the thermal valve is defective. Maybe that was the problem all along.
