Dyson animal won't push on carpet; turning off then on works for

Yes that's a nappy carpet verses long brushes, plus awesome suction. If you have a trigger to relieve suction a bit you will just have to nurse it. One direction of nap is always easier than the other. Eventually your Dyson will suck yourcarpet up, making it thinner, and the engine will tire and those long brushes will wear down and it will be just right

Check the belt that drive the brush not broken or brush not clogged up.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty using your DC25 Animal on this particular type of carpeting. This sounds unusual especially as it worked effectively on your older carpeting. As DC25 is engineered to adjust automatically to different floor types and pile heights, there is unlikely to be an issue with the vacuum itself.

It may be worth checking directly with the carpet manufacturer for their guidance on caring for this specific type of flooring. Manufacturers will sometimes recommend vacuuming certain types of long-pile or delicate carpeting with the motorised brush bar turned off.

Try not to **** up any more water. Don't use until you can dry it out well. Hopefully you live in a warm climate so that will happen sooner than later.

Same issue: new plush carpet, 7 year old tried and true DC14, wouldn't push across regardless of beater brush on or off. Called Dyson this morning, they suggested removing the small gasket between the floor plate and the assembly holding the beater brush. It's about a 12' gasket just under the screws used to remove the floor plate. Pushing is still a bit stiff, but it is a definite improvement. Whew!

have a look at the brushes are they turning and if they are can you stop them turning if you tuch them with your hand??? if you can stop them turning the brush drive belt is slipping get a new belt and fit it,,

There is a part under the knob that adjusts from bare floor to carpet that goes bad on these vacuums. I have an animal that is about 3 or 4 years old and I had it repaired last year( to the tune of $115.00), and it broke again in December, so I just bought a new one, tired of paying high repair cost!!

Check the brush. That could be the problem. Check the belt also. Your brush roller may need to be lubed or even replaced.

I know this sounds silly, but it works. Turn it over and wipe all the black residue off the bottom of it (off the plastic on the bottom that rubs on the carpet as you push and pull it). I thought my husband was out of his mind when he told me that was the solution, but it really works.
