Look at your remote control, find a button saying "display" and toggle it (press it) once. That's all folks. This is the answer to the original question which happened to me today in December 2022. This was the first thread on top of a google search. It was mentioned in the comments earlier in case you missed it or maybe thousands of people who accidentally sat on the remote like me and toggled the switch with their posterior, "simply fixed it, and said nothing". For laptops and pcs it is "osd" or on-screen-display, so find it and toggle that, nothing wrong with the equipment it is a simple display feature

Being a led screen maybe one or more of them have gone bad

SOURCE: HP Pavilion ze2000 Monitor is dim

Yes, this is what happens when the backlight goes out.
This will give you an idea of what is involved in replacing the backlight. You can find a replacement backlight here, or on ebay, just take your current backlight(s) out, measure it or them, and buy replacements of the same measurements. It doesn't have to be for the same model laptop as long as the CCFLs (cold cathode florescent lamp) are the same size.

SOURCE: touch screen on my hp pavilion tx 1000

there's a plug thats loose. hp is an idiot company. i have the same problem. don't waste your time installing drivers. unplug your computer. take out your battery. get a phillips head screw driver and un-screw the middle screw. take up the plastic and you'll find that a plug is loose. if your lucky you'll be able to just plug it back in but in my case when ever i swivil my monitor the plug comes right out. good luck. call tech support. you may need a new wire.

Screen dim HP pavilion dv1000

The lid actuator switch may not be working correctly. It's a small switch above the keyboard and led's on either the right or left side. Try pressing it 2 or 3 times to see if the display starts working correctly again. If so, it will need to be replaced.

If that doesn't work, you can also turn it on with the ac adapter plugged in. After it boots, press the power button and hold it in until it shuts off and then turn it on again and see if the display has returned to normal.

If neither of these options work, your laptop may need to have the backlight replaced.
