The Dryer won't start. Power light just flashes red on and off

There are too many problems that it could be, anything from the Button going bad, to the Door Shut Switch being defective, to the Motor, Relay inside the circuit board, to loose wire during the move, and the list goes on and on. Unless you can test each component that sends the START signal, nobody will be able to assist you with the information you have provided.

Door is ajar message when shut light comes on but doesnt run

That's because the door switch isn't getting pushed when you're closing the dryer door for some reason or another. Its located at the top of the door. Try pushing the switch by hand and seeing if the light shuts off when you manually push it.

Sometimes, a Whirlpool dryer may not function as you'd like.Although specific details vary by model, the company offers several generalguidelines to troubleshooting your Whirlpool dryer and getting it back intoworking order.

Verify that thedryer is connected to its power source if it won't turn on. Whirlpool alsosuggests checking your home's circuit breaker, as the high power needs of thedryer may have tripped the circuit. If the circuit has been tripped, reset itby flipping it back into the "On" position. Push the door of the dryer. Whirlpool designed its appliances to not turn onif the dryer isn't secured and notes that the dryer door may not be fullyclosed even if it appears shut. Push firmly at the top and bottom of the door,as some Whirlpool models have two latches. Press the "Start" button again. Whirlpool reports that some modelsrequire you to press and hold the button for five seconds to fully start themachine. Depending on the model, the button may be labeled "Hold toStart," "Start" or "Push to Start." Check that the dryer's settings knob is set to an actual drying mode and notsimply "Air" or "Tumble." On most Whirlpool models, themanufacturer states that the settings knob should be set to"Accudry," "Timed Dry" or "Automatic Dry." Clean the lint trap, typically located at the top of the dryer and removedby pulling its plastic handle. Over time, lint and dust builds up here. Thethicker the trapped layer of lint, the slower your dryer performance. Whirlpoolrecommends removing built up lint after every dryer load. Remove some of the wet clothes inside the dryer if it's taking an unusuallylong time to dry your clothes. Whirlpool warns that placing too much clothinginside the dryer reduces hot air circulation, which also reduces dryingcapabilities. Recommended dryer load s vary, with compact Whirlpool modelsholding approximately 3.4 cubic feet while extra large Whirlpool dryers holdingmore than 7 cubic feet.

GE dryer model DDE8200GALAD was working fine. After removing a load and trying to dry another, after inserting the load and shutting the door when you turn the timer to start it before pushing the start...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

Has a household fuse blown or has a circuit breaker tripped?

Is the correct power supply available? (Electric dryers only)
Electric dryers require 240-volt power supply. Check with a qualified electrician.
Is the dryer door firmly closed?
Your dryer door may not be fully closed. It may look shut, but may not be latched. Push on the door to engage the latch or latches. Some models have an upper and lower latch. Both latches must be secure for the dryer to run.
Was the Start, Push to Start or Hold to Start button firmly pressed?
Large loads may require the Start, Push to Start, or Hold to Start button to be pressed and held for two to five seconds.
Is the Cycle Control knob set on a Sensor Dry or Timed Dry cycle? (on some models)
The Cycle Control knob must be set in a Automatic Dry or AccudryTM or Timed Dry cycle. The dryer will not start if set on the Wrinkle ShieldTM option.
Is Controls Locked status light on? (on some models)
Press and hold the Cycle Signal button for three seconds. This will turn off the Controls Locked feature.
Did you recently install a power supply cord on the dryer? (Electric dryers only)
The power supply cord may be incorrectly installed. If the power cord is incorrectly installed, the dryer may not start or heat. Review the Installation Instructions to check that the power supply cord is properly installed.
