go here and look at part number 810,this is the water tank in the fridge section, get a hair dryer and heat up the tank where the water lines connect to it,also g.e. has problems with the water line in the freezer door the line freezes up.also when was the last time you changed the water filter?try this, open the freezer door and remove the bottom kickplate,on the left side you'll find a connector for the water line, disconnect it shut the door and hit the water dispenser,if water comes out of line where you disconnected it then you know the line in the door is frozen,if no water comes out i would change the filter and it that doesn't work i'd have to say you have a bad water valve.one more thing and this might sound crazy but if i didn't see it myself i wouldn't believe it,when you went to dispense water have you ever noticed that the condenser fan motor would sound like it was slowing down and also the strip in the middle where the doors close together touch it to see if it's hot,i've found three mother boards bad from this,i'd dispense water, and the fans would slow down, i hope i'm not confusing you by telling you this, lets stick with the basic things first disconnect the water line under the freezer door and behind the kickplate, shut the door and hit the dispenser,if water comes out of the hose the water line is frooze in the door,if no water comes out, heat up the water tank with a hair dryer, after a while like 5 to 10 minutes hit the dispenser but water will leak out the tube if the tanks frozen,if that doesn't do the trick i would change the water filter and if that doesn't work bad water valve,if you look down where the kickplate is you should find a tech sheet that will tell you how to jump out the ice maker, now what did you change out the ice maker?you said you changed two parts, what's happening that you changed the ice maker, was it not getting water to it,i mean if you're not getting water through the door and no water to ice maker, you either have a bad water valve or filter, start there and heat up the water tank,if that's frozen you won't get any wateralso look at this it will tell you how to start the harvest cycle on the ice maker,i beleive you shut it off for 20 seconds, turn it back on and move the arm in and out like three times.

Just stopped working: plugged in,light on,fan blows in freezer-

defrost timer probably failed in defrost mode go online search for defrost timer location and manually advancing or initiating a defrost cycle , it may pop into run mode and tell you thats what it is , 90% of the time thats it and they are cheap !

Hotpoint FFA71 fridge and freezer suddenly stopped working

Sounds as though the compressor has stopped working. It feeds both compartments with control from a printed circuit above the top door.Where all your red lights are ablaze! (This can be replaced by removing the 2 screws and "clicking" out the small panel) Check that the compressor is running at the bottom rear of the fridge/freezer before anything else.

Freezer fan running non-stop+freezer icing up

very likely that either the defrost timer is not working or the defrost heater is not working.

The compressor works for a few seconds but then stops. The freezer is over temperature.

Check the condenser fan motor (next to compressor) make sure it is running. Next change relay (inside black box) on compressor.

Fridge making a purring sound then stopped working

Yes, I think you have a problem that can be fixed easily by a repair technician. The sound as you described it could have come from the air circulation fan in the freezer compartment striking ice. As the ice builds up it could have stopped the fan from rotating and air flow to the refrigerator compartment.
