If you have speakers connected to it, disconnect them to see if the static stops. If there are no speakers clean the on / off switch and any volume controls with electronic switch cleaner.

Mechanical machines require frequent cleaning and oiling to keep them running. Even if your machine may be an early electronic, it most like still has mechanical parts that need oiling. Computerized machines, on the other hand,should be oiled ONLY as instructed in the manual. It is possible the stitch selector and needle mechanism have seized due to old oil.

Rule of thumb; "If the unit is either 7 years old or the cost of repair is 1/3 or more of the original price, purchase a new unit.

Consider it purchasing a new unit, stripping your existing unit for parts to sell on e-bay. You will make a little money and save others expensive parts cost.

if you dont have a electronic air cleaner you could try connecting the blower to your eac terminal (wich stands for electonic air filter) on the board but if your board is out you might not have power to eac either and you will only be able to run a single speed but that is a about the only thing to do to have the motor still controled by the board i hope my suggestion helps

becareful with the board you can easily fry it if you touch the wrong wires together

On these tappan ovens the f-5 or even the f-6 & even the f-7 can show up meaning you have a bad electronic controle board that needs to be replaced normally this will cost about 40 dollars for the part

It seems that you most likely allowed some liquid to flow down to the circuit board. I can probably gaurantee that there is damage done to the control circuits for the uPC or the uPC itself.

You will have to give the set out for service. You may be lucky and it is only the control board including its electonics that has to be replaced. If the damage was done to the uPC or if there is a damaged buffer IC on the main circuit board between the uPC and the control panel this repair will be very costly compared to just replacing the control panel cirucuit board.

When cleaning a TV screen use a very soft lint free tissue paper. Use only some light spray of a very weak or diluted glass cleaner, or just water on to the tissue paper. Never put enough liquid that there is a possiblity of some of it dripping down in to the circuit board.

I personal use a light spray of water on a soft tissue. This is safe, and will not remove the optical coating on the screen surface.
