Won't turn on

As I was using the vacuum it automatically shut off. I thought I may have accidentally unplugged the cord, but no. It just quit working and it won't even turn on anymore. Its only been used 3 times.

My vacuum used to shut off after 20min, now vacuum will not turn on

This must be a common problem with the Dirt Devil SD30035 cannister vacuum cleaner. I had this trouble come and go for a while, then it was in solid and would not turn on. Took it to the local authorized service shop. It took them 7 weeks to fix. Said the cord windup real was broken and they had to wait that long to get the part. Two months later the unit would not turn off, so now I have to turn it off and on by unplugging or plugging in the cord. I want to open it up, but can't see how to do it. Sorry I'm not much help, but at least you know this unit has a flaky on/off switch and related circuitry.

I have the electrolux vacuum epic series 6000 SR and bought it used therefore I dont have a manual. I have had it for about a yr and it worked great..it looked like it should have a filter but I didnt...

1. A manual can be downloaded from:
http://www.aerusvacuums.com/support/manuals/.
The Epic 60006500 is located under "Older Models". Download the Epic 6500 manual

2. Check for clogs in the hose and the power nozzle inlet.
3. Disconnect hose. Turn on vacuum. Does it run? If so, place hand over intake? Did it shut off? If it did, the problem is a worn out or broken component inside the vacuum. Generally a result of using generic "made to fit" Electrolux bags. This is a part that needs to be replaced in an authorized Aerus (Electrolux) shop.

The brush will not rotate. I thought this was a direct drive system.

Note: The brush will not rotate when the machine is locked in the upright position, because an internal micro-switch turns the brush motor off.

- Check the belt through the clear brush cover. If this appears damaged or broken, please take your machine to a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center to have this replaced. If the belt is intact, please continue checking the following:
- Ensure both power switches are turned on when you check for brush rotation.
- Unplug the power cord and remove the handle completely. Slide handle back into the lower section of handle, ensuring the screw is in tight. If the handle is not aligned properly, this will affect the power of the brush motor.
- Look for debris wrapped around the brush (i.e. string, hair, fibers, etc.). When the machine is unplugged, cut away any visible hair, fibers or debris from the brush roller. This brush is NOT removable from the machine.
- If something has become lodged in the foot and the brush shuts off, turn off the vacuum and unplug this from the outlet. You can now remove the obstruction. The brush will automatically reset when the vacuum is plugged in and turned back on.

If you continue to experience difficulty with this, please take your machine to the following Service Center in your area. The warranty on this machine is five years.

Wind Tunnel vacuum motor won't turn on

The fact that you wiggled the cord and it came on would seem to indicate a defective cord, either at the plug end or at the machine itself. Look again at where the cord enters the vac and at the wall. twist it slightly if you see a thin or collapsed area that is your problem.

Ran over cord and the vacuum shut down, won't

sounds like it might have broken a wire in the cord and may have to replace the cord unless you can find the broken wire and splice it back together

Vacuums shuts off during use

My guess is: Either a loose contact on the plug  or Intermittent electricial open  in the electric cord itself. To confirm. Try wiggling the cord and ends while running. If you find the place yo ucan either replace the cord or repair it.

The vacuum won't turn on

it could possibly be a short in the power cord. try replacing the power cord. if that doesn't fix it, it would probably be cheaper to buy a new vacuum cleaner.

I have a Bissell 3760-2 and while vacuuming it just shut off. The vacuum was plugged in and was on. Thought it might have quit because of the filters, so I cleaned them out and still does not work. Please...

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most Bissell vacuums have Thermal Motor Protection which is a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filter needs washing or your machine is blocked. If your machine turns off on its own, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Remember to check the filter and look for blockages before re-starting. When the motor cools for approximately 30 minutes, the thermal protector automatically resets and cleaning may continue. If the cleaner will not turn on or the thermal protector continues to activate, your cleaner may need servicing.note: The thermal protector controls the main vacuum motor only, not the brush motor. If the thermal protector activates, the brush will continue to operate normally; however, there will be no suction.
