That is an overheating fault. Replace the fluff with no fluff.

Make sure the condenser coils are free of dust and there is good airflow

There could be an ice build up sensor on the coil. try turning it off and using a hair dryer to melt any ice on the coil. This would be inside the rear of the freezer, you would direct the hot air into the vent that the cold air normally comes out of.

The best way to defrost is to empty it, unplug it, prop open the doors, and put a fan blowing on it. This could take a day or more. If this has been pretty bad for a long time you might have wet (and frozen) insulation (inside the walls of the freezer where you cannot see it). If so, you should give it an extra day or two to drip out. You might also have a bad or dirty seal around the door. Clean this thoroughly, and inspect it closely to make sure it seals well. Good luck.

I would replace the defrost termination thermostat. They were a frequent failure item on
Frigidaire units I service, causing this condition. Around 8 to 20 dollars depending on
vendor. Also check the defrost timer as I have found at least one that was stuck due to
mis assembly. (the replacements are from a different vendor). Hope this helps.

you might want to plug it in first and see if it still cools. If it has rust, you might have a compromised sealed system, in which case you have no refrigerant. Furthermore, Im not sure painting the inside would be a good idea, as the inside my always smell like paint, and therefore so would your food.

try first. condenser ciol clean. is the water cold? is cutter grid in god shape? the brackett under the evaporator is attached?

is the condenser clean ? possible low freon or plugging up cap tube (freon line). Tom

I have seen freezer stop working because the owner pulled it out to clean behind it and pushed it back into place too far. This "Chocked" the air flow around the condenser and caused the failure. Be sure condenser is clean and air can circulate. Older units have coils up the back and newer ones have them underneath and utilize a fan. You can use a vacuum on the the underneath ones. Be sure fan runs under there.

Sounds like the system is low on freon. The other common problem is a dirty condenser. Insure the condenser is clean, if it is. You will need to charge the system with freon. Which only a qualified refrigeration tech should do.
