Re: Backlight won't turn on
This is something you will have to send off to do take it to a phone shop this is acommon problem it needs the led replacing but this is something you cant do yourself shouldnt cost to much though sorry their is no easy fix so take it to a small phone repair shop thay should do it for you cheaper than a well known shop hope this is some help...............

Last fishing trip was at night and due to the brilliance of the display my son turnred it down and unknown to me actually turned it off ( the backlight) and it was only after trying everything else found it was the simple solution of turning it (the backlight) back on. oops
A 4 flash indicates you have a backlight problem. Either the backlight inverter boards have failed or you have a backlight that has failed in the LCD panel. You will need a technician to check the set to determine which is the problem.
The Motorola V3m has a light sensor, which is visible just above the right soft key -- the key above the CLR button. This light sensor turns the backlight on when you press a key in the dark and disables the keypad backlight when you are in a well-lit area.
Your phone sounds like it's operating normally. I believe they disabled the option to activate or deactivate that feature.
