The problem has to be with the updates which must have intrupted or failed. You can reset the mac OS by pressing option key at startup and entering into the Disk Utitliy. From the disk Utility select the Macintosh HD and repair the drive. Thank you.

Password unknown

Here's how (and I've done it):
Turn on your computer and tap F8 repeatedly to get to "safe mode" and then press "enter."
At the login screen Click on administrator, which should not require a password
Click on Start
Run
type <cmd> without the hentrax

Windows will start and you'll get a msg saying you're in safe mode are you sure you want to continue? etc etc. Yes you do.

Once it's all up and running (you'll have no internet and everything runs slow because safe mode disables some memory stuff)...

Co to control panel and click on "user accounts" (you may need to "switch to classic view").

Then you will see your regular account. Double click and then you can change all sorts of things, including your password, without having to put in the old one. Type the new password in each box it tells you too, type a password hint, click okay. If you want to be nerdy, you can put a password on your administrator account, but then you'd better remember it!

Reboot and let the computer go into its normal cycle.

My advice is if you don;t really need a password, fergit it!

My Macbook pro turns on but then gets stuck at the Apple logo with the loading gear and never finishes loading.

See if you can start your Mac in safe mode:

Shut down your Mac and wait 10 seconds.
  1. Press the power button.
  2. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
  3. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator (spinning gear).
To leave safe mode, restart your Mac normally without holding down any keys during startup.

If you can boot in safe mode, you have something on board your computer that's interfering with startup. If you've recently installed software, system extensions or 3rd party preference panels (Adobe and Microsoft stuff is notorious), try to disable or de-install it. If you can't get booted in safe mode, you may have a hardware or memory problem that might require technical repair. Repost your progress.

I just lost the menu bar at the top of my Macbook Air- how do I make it active again?

Try and start your Mac in safe mode.

To do this, as soon as you power on your Mac hold the shift key until the screen turns black and text starts scrolling down the screen.
The Mac will check itself and then boot up (wait for it, it will take a few minutes.)

How t master reset a toshiba satellite pro 420 cdt

Which Password? Bios Password? Hard Drive Password? Windows Welcom Screen User Logon Password?

Which Operating System? Windows XP? Windows Vista? Windows 7?

OK, if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightenedsecurity on it so you've got to have a password reset disk which 99% of thepeople who own laptops with windows 7 fail to do. It should be one of thefirst things you do when you buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced withreinstalling the Operating System or possibly doing a System Recovery.

If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on andimmediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Modeoption. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it getsto the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the useridfor which you forgot the password. Sign in as the Administrator (hopefullyyou didn't put a password on it and forgot it too). Once the desktopappears it will look different, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, but this is normal for safe mode.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
When the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you forgotthe password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD.

Reboot your machine.

I am going to have you take your Mac into Safe Mode to see if we can't remove a possible folder(s) that may be affecting your Mac's start up function.

Try these steps:

-SAFE BOOT MODE-
• Reboot your Mac
• Upon restarting your Mac, press the Shift key.
• Hold the Shift key until you see a White Screen with Gray Apple icon and eventually a spinning gear.
• When you see the Spinning gear, release the Shift key.
• Allow the Mac to continue booting up. Also this may take a little while
(NOTE: this may take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to load to the Safe mode screen depending on the performance of your Mac, but if it exceeds this time, shutdown your Mac and try just once more. It may have just frozen up the first time around for you.)

• You are going to enter the Safe Mode (which looks like your main desktop environment - the only difference is certain start up items are disabled.)

• Once within the Desktop in Safe Mode
• From the Finder Menu, click Go> Go to Folder
• Type in this line: /System/Library/StartupItems

• This path, is going to take you to the System Library folder which has all of your Mac OS X Startupitems.

• Remove all of those folders to the Trash.

*Reboot your Mac normally and see if you can access your normal User desktop environment.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks!
