There is a switch on the motor that activates when the drum is turning at the proper speed. This switch should be checked if the drum is turning properly.

The control relay is bad. Internal contacts are most likely welded together. Replace the relay.

My Kenmore electric dryer model 417.80412700 wont heat up but the element is still good. What else could be wrong?

Some dryers have a hi limit safety switch that is a one time fuse type switch . If the dryer gets too hot this switch opens and prevents the heating element from operating it is usually about 1/2" wide x 2" long plastic part with two wires attached to it.
You can test this part with a continuity tester. Unplug dryer, remove wires and test for continuity between the terminals. No continuity means the part needs to be replaced.
Hope this helps.

Kenmore Dryer, heating element doesnt turn off

remove the back of dryer and remove the heating element from the heater box, check to see if the wires in the box are touching the heater box walls any where, this would make the element stay on all the time, also check the high temp thermostat on the left side bottom, this is the on off thermo for the heating element-mike
