Sounds like a defective motor starter contactor. DO NOT continue to try to use the dryer or you'll burn the motor out. The motor starter is built into the motor, but most are replaceable without replacing the entire motor.

Could also be the motor, but sounds like the motor is stuck in 'start' mode and never goes into 'run,' which would be the classic symptom of a stuck motor start contactor.

Kitchen Aid Dryer Gas/Front Loading Model KGYS750JQ1

Does the noise stop when you let off the start button? If so you either have a bad motor or something has gotten into the blower keeping it from turning. If the motor is running but drum not turning, you have a broken belt. Please post the complete model number from the dryer and I will try to help you with diagnosing and repairing the problem.

We bought our dryer new 2.5 years ago and up until today it's been working great. ran it yesterday with no problem. put clothes in it today, pressed the start button and it made the buzzing noise as if...

Dryer motors are common for lint build up in the motor at the motor switch. If you get the dryer apart again use a vacuum and small paint brush or compressed air and blow out the motor. Make sure you clean your external vent frequently and do not use flexible vinyl ducting. Also, make sure you check the blower for any obstructions as this will also prevent the motor from starting.

Electric Kenmore Dryer runs short time (seconds) and then stops.

your thermostat/s are not doing their jobs. They are allowing your dryer to overheat and also if your dryer has not been cleaned out on the interior you might want to do that. I've taken out globbs of lint build-up in them.

My dryer makes a buzzing noise when I push the start button

My Hotpoint dryer is seven years old and did the exact same thing. When I got over the anger and the thought of spending 4 or 5 hundred dollars to replace it I started messing with it. I finally decided that since it buzzed when I tried to start it there was current there. The only other thing it could be was the drying cycle knob.
I held the start knob and let it buzz while I slowly turned the dryer cycle knob to the right. As I turned through each cycle it would hit "off" and the buzzing would stop and then resume as I moved past the "off " setting. On the third trip around the dryer "started" and has been working since. Maybe something got out of kilter. Apparently the problem was in the knob that controls the drying cycles.

Amana gas dryer wont start. just makes a faint buzzing noise

The drive motor starting capacitor is likely dead. This can be tested if you are competent enough to take the thing apart and use an electronic multimeter. Otherwise it is a cheap part to replace, depending on how much the repair guy charges for labor and to be called out.

Dryer makes a loud buzzing noise then quits working.

Sounds like the motor's done. That thing is probably the start-run switch. Not worth trying to fix on an old motor. I've found dryer motors to be fairly generic, you should be able to find a replacement. I use Repairclinic.com when I can't get parts locally.

You need to check if the Spray Arms are knocking against an item in a basket. If the source of noise cannot be determined, run a program without plates or glassware. If the noises continue, let me know for further investigation.

Kenmore gas dryer runs but not heating

Try replacing the valve coils first, then the valve if the prior doesn't work. If there is a buzzing noise, I believe it's more likely the valve. I'm replacing both on mine to be sure.
