If you take the camera and the card to a sales outlet the assistants are usually helpful

Inserting an SD Memory Card(Optional)
All images and video clips taken by the camera can be stored in an SD (Secure
Digital) Memory Card. Even if the camera's power is OFF, the images saved in the
SD Memory Card are not erased. An SD Memory Card can be repeatedly read and
written. You may also expand the memory capacity up to 512MB so that you can
store additional images and video clips.
1. Make sure the camera is off.
2. Slide the battery/SD Memory Card cover in the direction of the [OPEN] arrow.
3. Insert an SD Memory Card :
The front side of the memory card (printed
arrow) should face towards the front side
of the camera.
If the card cannot be inserted, check the
orientation.
4. Close the battery/SD Memory Card cover.
To remove the SD Memory Card, make sure
the camera is off. Open the battery/SD Memory Card card cover. Press
lightly on the edge of the memory card and it will eject.
Note:
If the camera is powered-on without the card, the "NO CARD" message appears on
the LCD monitor.
To prevent valuable data from being accidentally
erased from an SD Memory Card you can slide the
write-protected tab (on the side of the SD Memory
Card) to "LOCK".
To save, edit or erase data on an SD Memory Card,
you must unlock the card.
MultiMedia Card (MMC) can not be used.
You need to format an SD Memory Card before using it in this camera

How to Recover Pictures From Fujifilm FinePix S700 Storage Media

With 7 mega pixel camera, 10x optical zoom, 2.5 LCD, picture stabilization mode, and i-Flash intelligent Flash, the Fujifilm FinePix S700 fulfills all the requirements of any photographer. The storage media (SD and xD memory cards) used in this camera allows the photographer to save audios, videos, and photos of different sizes. Damage in storage media can occur any time, resulting in fatal consequences, like inaccessibility of data saved in the memory card. In most cases, the photographer encounters an error message stating that the card is corrupted. To overcome such corruption scenarios, the photographer needs to restore the data from an updated backup. But all photographers do not create a backup on regular basis. For them, a third-party Camera recovery software acts as a boon and helps them recover the data.
As a real-world instance, you encounter the below error message while trying to view the pictures saved in your SD card (inserted in Fujifilm FinePix S700):
"CARD ERROR"
After the above error message pops up, the data saved in the SD card becomes inaccessible.
Cause:
Few main causes for the above error message are:
1.Incorrect SD card format.
2.Incompatible SD card.
3.Memory card corruption due to unexpected camera shutdown, virus infection, and interrupted read or write operation.
Resolution:
To resolve the above error message and to access the data saved in SD card, you will need to:
1.Use a compatible SD card.
2.In case of memory card corruption, format the card in Fujifilm FinePix S700 camera. Though formatting brings the card in reusable state, all the audio, video, and picture files get deleted. To recover the deleted data, you will need to choose a powerful Camera recovery software.
Such recovery tools use effective scanning methods to ensure complete Camera data recovery. These tools can be downloaded from the Internet and used by anybody. Such applications are safe as they harm the original data saved in the memory card.
Digital camera recovery software is a world-renowned Photo Recovery utility used for recovering data from almost every type of memory card. This software ensures complete recovery of digital files, irrespective of their size or type. Compatible with Windows and Mac OS X, the read only software also recovers data from other storage media, like Zip drives, hard drives, etc.

Overcoming with SD card "write error"

SD cards are flash memory devices which allow a user to store huge amount of data. Being reliable and durable, these cards have become the hot choice to store data and are used in various host devices like digital camera, PDAs, video game consoles, MP3 players etc. Despite so many advantages, these cards are also prone to errors. Most of these errors occur due to reasons like interruption in read/write process, virus attacks or file system corruption. While some SD card errors can be dealt by cleaning the contacts of the card and re-inserting it, others can be rectified by formatting the card. After formatting, the SD card data can be retrieved by using either a valid backup or SD card recovery software.

Consider a situation, you have taken your family to an exotic locale and while clicking pictures through your digital camera (which is using a SD card) you witness an error on its LCD screen:

“Write error”
The above error is not rare in case of SD cards. The moment the error erupts, the data stored on the SD card becomes inaccessible. Moreover, the SD card becomes useless as you can't even store new data on it.

Cause

The above error which rendered the SD card ineffectual can be accounted to corruption. The other reason can be relatively less memory space to accommodate new data.

Resolution
In order to rectify 'write error', you can try the following possible techniques:
  • Turn the camera off, re-insert the card and then turn it on again
  • If you are still not able to access the data, connect the camera to a computer
  • You can use a card reader to access the SD card data
  • In grim situations where nothing of the above works, format the SD card and restore the data using a backup

After formatting, the SD card becomes functional and can perform read/write operation. If a backup of the data is corrupted or invalid, you can rely on a SD card recovery software. A SD card recovery tool employs improved scanning algorithms to extract data in the event of corruption.

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery, a well-known SD card recovery tool, is designed to recover lost/formatted/deleted multimedia files from a variety of memory cards like SD, SDHC, XD, MMC, CF etc. The easy-to-use tool is available in two versions, one each for Windows and Mac operating system.

How to insert SD card in photo smart printer 385

Not all SD cards work in a printer. The SD must Fit properly to start. If it is the proper fit, make certain it is a Formatted Card with the ability to read and write data. If you have data on the card, try it first in a card reader on a computer to see if the SD is active and working. Make certain the Card Reader on the printer is setup as per the manual. Check your manual for instructions and also the checklist of Problems.

How do i shut off write protection

Hi, i have here a photo that will show you on how to remove write protect on a micro SD.
1. You need to insert your micro SD into an adapter. 2. Unlock the micro SD through your adapter as shown below. 3. Once done, your micro SD is no longer write protected. eibraz_16.jpg

NOTE: The lock switch doesn't lock the micro SD into the adapter; The lock switch doesn't lock the data on the micro SD; The lock switch simply tells the "user" not to write. It just says "please, don't write me."
I hope this helps.

Don't know if you cover this area but can't find any information on my own...I have an SD card that read "card not initialized", I formatted the card to recover the photos and then another file...

If you formatted the card after the photos were stored on there, the photos were deleted. Format basically cleans the disk to a "like new" condition. Sadly, the pictures are not recoverable.

My SD card reader on my Sony Vaio will not read the card...it seems to know its in the slot, but won't read any data and says 'insert the SD card' if I go to computer and try to read it. Any thoughts?

Take a can of air and blow some into the slot to make sure dust or dirt isn't getting the way of that reader trying to read the sd cards.

If you still get the same message try another SD card in that reader or try to see if another computer will read your SD card, if another computer will read the SD card and the slot still won't recognize the sd cards properly, then you know at that point the reader is bad. If the reader is bad, thats integrated into the motherboard so the motherboard would need to be replaced.

Doesnt go to navigation screen nextar x3-03

If it says it can't find map data then your SD card is corrupted.

It's a fatal flaw in the WindowCE 5.0 operating system that was used for Nextar GPS builds. Basically, if you have a power glitch while it's reading your SD card (contains the maps) then your SD card get's corrupted.

Don't expect any help from Nextar. You will have to get the original data from another person's SD card with the exact same model
