Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

You might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd computer then plug them back in restart your this should activate the found new hardware wizard.

If this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

"you only need to do the following"

if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer

Close all open programs
Click on Start, Run, and typeregedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
Upper Filters
Lower Filters
Upper Filters.bak
Lower Filters.bak
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computerOpen My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned.
You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

if this fails to fix the problem It could be a problem with the lens you could use a liquid type lens cleaner place 2-3 drops on top of a cd/dvd then run it

My cd rom drive does not read disk

This problem could be solved by updating the firmware. I have tried to find a reputable firmware update from the manufacturers site but have only come across them for that drive supplied by laptop manufacturers.
Who manufacturers your computer , is it a laptop and what model is it?

How can i make bios k8n-vm.rom to motherboard because i cant read from flopy this file , thank you

anaging and updating your BIOS
The following utilities allow you to manage and update the motherboard
Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) setup.
1.
ASUS EZ Flash
(Updates the BIOS using a floppy disk during POST.)
2.
ASUS AFUDOS
(Updates the BIOS in DOS mode using a bootable floppy
disk.)
3.
ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2
(Updates the BIOS using a bootable floppy
disk or the motherboard support CD when the BIOS file fails or gets
corrupted.)
4.
ASUS Update
(Updates the BIOS in Windows
®
environment.)
Refer to the corresponding sections for details on these utilities.

prepare the motherboard support CD or the floppy disk containing the updated motherboard BIOS before using this utility.
• Make sure that you rename the original or updated BIOS file in the
floppy disk to K8NVM.ROM.

Recovering the BIOS from the support CD
To recover the BIOS from the support CD:
1. Remove any floppy disk from the floppy disk drive, then turn on the
system.
2. Insert the support CD to the optical drive.
3. The utility displays the following message and automatically checks
the floppy disk for the original or updated BIOS file.
4. Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process.
DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing
so can cause system boot failure!

Device- SONY CD-RW CRX320EE It is detected by the OS(Xp-64bit). Device Status- working properly. Disks(any type) when inserted not detected . More over i can access the drive when i double click it even...

make sure it is not a DVD disk you are trying to insert into your Drive because your Drive is a CD-RW will not read DVD nor burn onto it.

Your disk may be damaged or corrupt and the drive cannot read it.
your drive may need a firmware update from Sony.
use this link below to access Sony's website to download drivers.

MY CD/DVD Disk drive will not read anything

Physically take out the drive and reseat it back into place. Then turn the laptop on and go into your bios by pressing F2. If the cd drive shows up in the BIOS then that means the system is seeing it properly. If it doesn't show up in the BIOS then that means the drive is bad and needs to be replaced.

If the drive shows up in the BIOS then reboot the laptop and then once you get into windows try different dvds and cds in the drive. If it reads them then problem solved. If it doesn't read anything then go ahead and clean the laser of the cd drive with a damp q-tip. Clean it and then try different discs again. If it still doesn't read anything then the drive at that point is definitely bad and the drive would need to be replaced.

Hi, I'm still unable to update the xbox 360

Hi,
your probably not doing anything Wrong.
did you boot the console then eject the draw, and put the update disk In ?
it should read the disk, then tell you it,s an update, and ask you if you want to update the console.
Make sure your hard-drives connected.
The only other thing i can suggest, is to make sure your 360 reads the disks or media your using.
if you try burning a music cd, and see if the 360 recognises it, you,ll know the media or Blank CD/DVD is good for the 360 to read. another method is to add a dummy file of about 80-100mb.
this ensures the 360 sees the disk.
try different media/disks and different methods.
if it still does,nt work for you. mail me your e-mail address and i,ll forward you 1 already made.

regards Mike @ compurepair.
