Not sure what S6 pro is, but if the flash doesn't fire in TTL then the flash is not support the type of TTL in the camera. I had the same problem with Nikon flashes on Nikon bodies. Perhaps you need a newer SCA adapter? Please go on http://www.metz.de/en/photo-electronics/sca-adapter/archive.html to check which adapter you need
If the shoe of the flash is compatible with the hot shoe of the camera then yes go for it. Should the flash shoe be different then the flash will still work but with a shoe adapter. Both are TTL so I see no reasons why they won't work. I do know of a friend who uses the Nikon with the same flash but it has the battery pack fitting and uses an adapter on the camera's hot shoe. He does weddings galore and never had a problem even though he carries a spare he has never used it.
What do you mean by adaptor?! You will need to by a hotshoe adaptor with a hole that talkes the old style cable plug from your Metz lead and away you go! Try jessops. (As long as you have the lead from your Metz!?
