Hp dv6930us wont see hard drive in cmos

The HD died on the computer (dv6930us) so I bought a ssd 120 gig hd to put in it. Now all I get is win 7 loading over and over again. If you go into the bios it doesn't show the hd. The bios version is f.57.

i have the same laptop. though your video card is independent, it is still integrated into the system and cannot be upgraded, your only be there is to go to the Radeon website and download the latest drivers for it.(it helps) As for your Ram, you can only upgrade to 2 mb of ddr2.(on mine it made a noticable difference) As far as the hd goes i believe sky is the limit, i went from 100 gb to 160 no problem

Hi there , if the main battery is removed the cmos battery will go flat , if its a small pcb mounted 1 you can short the contacts for a short time , if the cdrom is working it mains the 5volt supply is ok and you should be able to hear the hard drive spin up unless there is damage to the pins on the hdd or the adaptor or hdd is mounted wrong .

check the cables it properly connected or not. after start up press F8 key to check the installed hard drive is detected or not. if it is not, check with BIOS settings

F12 to get boot menu then select CD. The CD drive should led up. If it doesn't read the CD clean the CD in straight motion, try another boot CD as well. If it won't read at all, then your CD drive may be defective and need replacement.

try re-installing OS you might have this feature,,or not, on mine you press F10 whilst booting,if you can this would restore to factory settings,other wise external dvd rom will be needed,and your right ssd's are good technology

if you want a hard drive that will not fail the hard drive should be a solid state (SSHD)
they are priced at around $60.00 a gig and come in sizes from 120 to well over 500 gig
as there are no spinning discs, failure is remote
besides that a sshd will store more for the same gig size than a disc HD
now best talk with a computer geek to get exact information but you should be able to remove the hd in the computer and replace it with a new one
now connect the hard drive ( removed ) back to the unit as you would a backup hard drive and then down load it back into the computer
remember when fitting a new hard drive you may have to reset the bios to boot from the cd os disc or boot from the removed hard drive as the new hd will not have an os on it
AS I said talk with a geek and get how to do it
computer capacity is also determined by the ram size so if you have the slots fit another ram stick

Try installing the OS that shipped with the computer. If it is an HP OEM version that you are installing on the HP computer for which it was designed then you should not have any problem. Otherwise, you need to buy a license from Microsoft, or the recovery disks for your computer from HP.

Maggie, Did you replace the mother with the SAME MODEL NUMBER?
The replacement Motherboard might have had that problem when you bought it if it was a used MB. Contact the seller to discuss the problem and ask for a replacement.

you need hard drive formatter this is in disk manager, windows 7 press windows key and then X go to disc manager, in the menu you will find your hard drive and make sure its the right one. and click on format drive, on the folder of the drive.

go to device manager on computer, (while the external hardrive is connected) find the drive on the list and right click it or somthing, and look to see if you can update any drivers on it..this is more then likely your problom because when you switched from xp to 7 it might have wiped out the drivers for the external hardrive

You could have a faulty disk controller. Try inserting a different working hard disk into the HP and see if it can detect it in the BIOS. If not then the disk controller is faulty and this is a motherboard problem. A replacement motherboard may not be worth it, put your money towards a new laptop and put the hard disk into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB external hard drive.

I have a samsung sp1203N 120gig capacity, running with a new WDC WD5000AAKS-00A7B2 500GB HD ,as the primary drive on windows 7. My problem is that my samsung drive is only reading at a 31.4 GB capacity...

On XP, it was Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management.

Upgrade the 120gb to a Dynamic disk and then extend the partition, or if there's no data on it yet, delete the 32gb and create a 120gb one.

Should not be that different under Win7. Hasn't changed much since NT4.0

Missing hard drive space

Simple problem you made the partions using FAT 16 file system and 80 GB cannot be partition using win98 10 will limit the disk to 10 GB.
Remove all Partions And Use Windows XP to create partition during Installion.
