DC shuts off when memory card is inserted

Our old Kodak DC200 shuts off when the memory card is inserted. I have replaced with new batteries and tried 3 different cards, same problem. The camera will stay on until the memory card is inserted then shuts off.

That is the problem I can navigate thru the preference screens with NO card inserted. As soon as the card is inserted the screen goes fussy and the camera shuts off. We can not attempt to reformat because the camera turns OFF. This happens on all 3 memory cards 16MB, 20MB and a 4MB all had worked previously. We use the camera for very simple photos usully 5-10 at a time and then download.

SOURCE: CAMERA READS -CARD ERROR-AFTER INSERTING A NEW MEMORY CARD

First, make sure that the new memory card does not have the protect tab in the lock position. The new card must be unlocked and formatted before your camera will be able to use it. Also, make sure that the size card that you have purchased has not over shot the ability of your camera. I think that a 2 GB card is as large as you can use. Just because the card fits into the slot does not mean that the camera will address it!

SOURCE: 2GB SD card is brand new but camera says it is full.

Some of the older cameras will not take the bigger cards. You can use the bigger card with your computer to store your photos.

SOURCE: Kodak DX4330 memory card formatting problem

if you have a computer with a card reader, use it to format the card...it's much more powerful and faster than the camera's internal processor.

New batteries but the camera will not turn on.

New or old. They could still be faulty. Try the following: 1. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Turn the camera on. 2. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) 3. Please test with the a different battery If you do not have access to another battery Try these steps instead: Please take the battery out of the camera. b. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the battery. If you camera doesn?t switch on you will need to order a no power repair with KODAK or a new cable.
