tha't an easy task to handle
See the pictures below
if your whole screen shows an image and the cracks are in front of it then its just a cracked digitiser
if you dont see the whole image and tyou see horizontal and vertical line or an image like spilled liquid then your Lcd is also cracked too


this is a broken Lcd (the screen is distorted by the lines or no picture at all)


this is just a broken digitiser (the screen below the broken glass works fine )

you will need to get a replacement screen for you to fix the problem. Once you get the replacement screen, remove the cracked one and replace it.

cracked screens can not be repaired, the screen needs to be replaced to a new one.

check ebay.com for parts.

May be hard to find. You may have to buy a new one. or a broken one that has a working display.

Sounds like you have a broken screen.
Is there a crack along the edge of the black area?
If you apply a little finger pressure in the black area does it change color? If it doesn't change color then you you have a cracked screen.
Therefore you need a replacement screen.

The inside of the display panel is broken.

The cost of the replacement display would probably exceed the cost of a new set!

The LCD screen itself often cost more then the tv set itself. If you have accidental insurance you might see if they cover this, otherwise this will make a nice lava lamp like art display for a bedroom wall.......
