Overflow in basket

Hi!. I have had my coffee maker for about a month and it worked fine without a problem for about 3 weeks. Now it overflows inside the basket causing grounds to spews onto the counter. I have tried removing the 'sneak a cup' spring, different sizes of ground amounts, and different filters with no luck. Please help!

Steven, I think it`s not the filter or the coffee just that more water is flowing into the basket then it can process. I would try lesser quantity of water first to see if it overflows. Try first with filter only and then with coffee. And before you do all that, your machine should be under warranty and may be returnable to the store. Do that and save the trouble of fixing it.

I would watch that "sneak a cup" button on the bottom of the filter basket. When the coffee craft (pot) is in place, with the lid, the lid should push up the bottom of the plunger. Sometimes when the coffee grounds get past the filter they can dry up under the spring loaded plunger. Rinse the filter basket and be sure that water flows evenly from the drain when the plunger thingie is pushed upwards.

It should run coffee as smoothly.

Dunkin Donuts decaf coffee clogs the filter as the water fills the basket causing the basket to overflow. The coffee is ground too fine. Swtich brands or use a second filter to cover the coffee grounds to keep them from floating and clogging the filter.

overflow problem possible causes: 1) water is over the "10" marker, 2) no filter in basket 3) too much (or too fine) of coffee in the basket -- does not drain. Also make sure the "spring" on the bottom of the basket is not stuck (the one that lets you remove coffee carafe without dripping coffee.

If your in a hard wayter area the basket overflow valve may be need cleaning. Fill with white vinegar and run a full cycle. Rinse by running 2 or 3 cycles with clean water. You may need to repeat the vinegar cycle if the problem persists.

Basket with coffee and filter overflows. Why?

Grounds might be too fine or not leveled before brewing, sprayhead might be dirty and clogged.

Try taking the filter out, and turn the sprayhead off the unit. Put the basket back on, and try pouring clear water through the unit. If the water runs through fine, you either have a plugged sprayhead or are using too finely ground coffee. Look at the holes in the sprayhead, and make sure that none of the holes are plugged. If the basket still overflows, try using a drill bit to make the hole in the funnel a little larger. Good luck.

Sometimes coffee maker overflows

Do you grind your beans at home before brewing or is it ground from the store. If you grind just before brewing check her grind and compare it with yours.
Also check to see if she levels the coffee in the basket. Usually when a pot overflows it is because of the grind or the way the coffee sits in the basket.

Overflowing basket

The grind on your coffee is too fine, and if not there is too much coffee in the basket, hence the overflow.

We bought a black&decker Spacemaker coffee maker last month and it has not worked properly but maybe a week. It seems to not want to flow correctly into the pot. We set it to come on and wake up to...

If the hole in the bottom of the basket isn't plugged, it sounds like the anti-drip feature isn't functioning properly. This is the series of levers that allow you to remove the pot while the coffee is perking without spraying liquid everywhere.

There is a vertical lever mounted at the back of the hollow where the pot goes, and the top end of that lever lines up with the spring-loaded lever that closes the bottom of the coffee basket. When the basket is in place without the pot, the bottom of the basket remains closed. When the pot is inserted it presses against the back lever and the series of contacts opens the valve covering the hole in the bottom of the basket, allowing the coffee to flow into the pot. If the sequence of contacts doesn't work the basket will overflow, and you get coffee and grounds everywhere.

Ensure all these parts align and are working properly. If there's a problem that can't be resolved, or parts are broken or missing, removing the spring-loaded lever from the basket will allow the coffee to flow into the pot. You will no longer be able to remove the pot while it is perking, but you'll have your morning coffee.
