Are the mud flaps hitting the tires? Maybe you hit a mud flap on something and bent one of them to make it now be rubbing on a tire

SOURCE: Smoke from front passanger tire

I would check it myself no matter who did the work. Jack up the car so that wheeel is off the ground. (Block atleast one back tire so the car cant roll off the jack) Make sure the car is in neutral... then see how freely the wheel spins. It should spin easily. check the break lines, fluid. I would even have someone sit in the car and press the break so you can visually see the it working. You may need to pull the wheel off and just spin the rotor. (most likely) My other thought whe I read your problem was that the wheel bearing could need to be replaced as well. They can definatery smoke when the get dry, but if you had no problem with it before doing the breaks then I would not think it should have one now. Focus on the calliper and pads first. post you results. I will check back. Tim

I was driving my 1992 Ford Explorer when all of a sudden I heard lound grinding noises. It sounded like metal dragging on the ground mixed with grinding gears and metal under the truck. When I looked

sounds like possible brake job if the truck didn't drive differently or you can feel light vibrations on the steering wheel...either way could be costly depnding on if you know how to change your brakes yourself :)

Sounds like something is draggin on the ground front passenger side

Have you considered the wheel bearing may be shot? That would be what i would look into. good luck!

2001 Toyota Echo sounds like metal dragging/trouble shiftinga nd accelerating

Nothing to do with your alternator. Transmission sounds possible. Also possible CV joints (constant velocity) - or your front wheel drive drive shaft(s). The mystery fluid leak is a definite concern. What was texture/color/amount of fluid? Where specifically did it come from?

The "gurgling sound" is a new one to me. ???

The CV joints is an easy check. Get under vehicle and grasp the drive shaft (one on each wheel) and give a good yank towards/away from you. If there is good resistance - or feels pretty solid, your shaft is probably OK. If it moves a whole bunch, it is probably broken and needs replacement. While you are there, check around the rubber ***** that is close to the wheel and make sure it is not ruptured or torn or missing. Anyproblems with this ***** only means inevitable replacement soon. (Some models have replacement boot kits, but I have never had any luck with them.)

Sounds like something is dragging on the bottom of the car when it is driven. However, there is nothing dragging.

when your front brake pads wear down to minimum pad thickness a metal tab scrapes against the brake rotor signalling you to service your brakes because there is very little brake material left. this may be the sound you hear.
