Step 2:
Flush a couple of gallons of water through your new filter. Since most refrigerator water filters are made of carbon, some carbon residue is present in the first gallon or two of water. This will leave a bitter taste and residue in your water. according to the model number that you gave this particular unit does not have a filter built into it. most amana bottom freezers ahve the filter located in the refrig section on the ceiling. there is a thumb latch you push in and a cover lets down to expose the filter. then turn 1/4 turn counterlokwise to remove. if this doesnt sound right post back wiht a complete model number from the refrig and I will take another look for you. thanks for using FixYa peyton

didnt post the model number, but a general rule of thumb is the filter is in top right section of refrig compartment, a counter-clockwise turn will unscrew and rescrew the new one in

Kathryn, make sure you do not have the dispenser locked out. Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds. If you have a green light above the pad this indicates lock. You are going to have to hold the water lever for a while until all the air in the new filter is purged. Catriver...post back.
