Remove memory card from the camera, look along the one side for small switch, the switch that is furthest from the contacts is in the unlock position allowing access. If you find it is in the unlock position slide it back forth to clean switch contacts, if this fails replace the memory card.

You will need to have PC highlighted and select ok on the camera as this starts the camera and computer to communicate. Once communication established the LCD screen of the camera goes dark and the computer should generate a removable disk drive. Check the System Tray (lower right corner beside the PC time) for Safely Remove Hardware. When you click on it, it should read "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device Drive ?:" If you dont see that, then check the Device Manager to see if the camera is recognized as USB Mass Storage Device. The camera uses the driver usbstor.

some computers just seem to do that, it happened on me before. if you have a card reader just put the card into that and read the pictures from that.or just try a differant port if you havent allready
Try removing the battery, let it stand for 1 hour (it should reset itself), insert the battery and configure your camera again. AND/OR Have a look at your manual and or the Olympic WEB site to see how to reset your camera.
