Just a suggestion. This effect can happen if you have plugged the line cord into the tel jack instead of line jack.

After dialing and scanning to send fax the machine says wait and then goes to print report and starts printing

Dear
Pl. check the tel.line, test for voice communication,if its ok and without any noise, there may be problem with fax communication line(internal), this may be tested by connecting a parallel telephone set and hearing the beep tones while sending the fax.(put the document in the ADF dial any one no. just to cut dial tone press START, ) If no beep tones in regular interval heard. its due to LIU card fault(mostly). You need to replace or repair the card.

Thanks.

What does transmission report cdoe NG290000 mean on a Sharp MXM363n MFP When trying to send a fax?

My recommendation would be to hit the speaker button when sending a fax to hear why your fax wont go through.

When you hit speaker you should have a clean dial tone, then when you start dialing and the tone stops make sure you don't have any static or noise on the line.

There are several reasons you might get a NG error. One is the fax line you're trying to send to is busy. Maybe it's a phone line not a fax you're trying to send to. Maybe you need to dial a 1 or 0 for long distance, maybe your fax line has noise on it.

Using the speaker can help troubleshoot what the problem is.

My fax machine will not send faxes. After a number is dialed, it will give me a report saying that there is no response/busy.

The only thing that could stop you from sending a fax or not get a dial tone, would be the connection to the phone line. Make sure the telephone wire is plugged into the line jack (not ext jack) and should go straight to the wall, without splitters or extensions. If you still cannot send a fax, try another wire or jack

Can't receive faxes, I can send faxes and print reports though. messages says "Receiving Error - ask sender to send again". Any ideas?

Have you gotten and old telephone and plug it in where the fax goes and see (hear) if you have any problems with a good dial tone and phone line? Does your phone line go near any high power a/c units big motors, mite think about a ferrite core for the fax/phone line. hav ATT or other carrier check your line. Also check your own line when ATT does it there check is only to the location not inside the house. Does your sure protector protect your phone line, really good sureg protectors protect Power lines fax lines!!! and in some case network lines

I can receive faxes but cannot send them

Check your fax speed settings, also, make sure you get a good clear dial tone on the line. Sometimes it wont send if it detects line noise.

OT OFF SENT REPORT & ON DIAL TONE

Try sending a test sheet using "hook" to a known good fax if it goes the fax is fine (it wont leave the doc feed till its coming out on the rx. fax.) If this works then maybe the speaker is bad or disconnected. As for the report you need to chance the transmission report to off or error.
-Carl, please let me know if this helps.

Error 401 & 634

error 634 is an indication that the line was either busy, or there was no answer on the receiving end.

Sending and receiving problems

Where the telephone line comes in from the wall, make sure that it is plugged in the "line" or "wall" port. There is probably another port call "tel" or "acc". If the line is plugged into that port you will still get a dial tone but you are not connected to the fax's modem. You hope that's it. Ed
