The outer Bag is full of dirt. When I unzip the bag dust goes everywhere. Blah! I never allow my disposable to get full so I know that isn't the problem. My disposable bags are the ones that slide into the little plastic assembly then snap shut. I feel that perhaps there isn't a good seal somewhere. So I'm wondering, should I replace the outer zip up bag, the plastic assembly that hold the bag, or both?

Hi,
you can wash the bag. However you cannot wash the bag in the wash machine. What you will want to do is look for the screw or depending on the model, untwist the cap down on the rod next to the machine. that entire pole section will come off of the unit below with the bag there.
I recommend if it is warm outside to use the garden hose to spray it and scrub inside the bag with a scrub brush and some dish soap.
I usually throw them into the laundry sink and let soak, scrubbing with soap and water.
To dry the bag, a hairdryer or hang to dry before putting the piece back onto the machine.
Good luck.

when you change the bag make sure the new one is secure or it will suck dust into the bag filter area.
**UPDATE*** I had to replace the plastic bag dock. When the dock is opened and you slide a bag on, there is a little plastic lip that the bag part snaps into that holds it in place. I guess over the years , from all the use, that plastic lip was bent to far and didn't hold properly. It was an inexpensive fix. I found one on ebay for a dollar. Thanks for all the help.
