You must determine if the problem is the media you are using (CD, DVD) or the drive itself. (CD/DVD Rom)
First see if the driver is installed for the CD/DVD ROM by Right clicking My Computer and choosing Properties, Hardware, Device Manager. Clikc the plus sign next to DVD/CD Rom Drives to see if there is a yellow exclamation point, or question mark. This means you need to install the correct driver. If there are no yellow exclamation marks or question marks your driver is installed properly.
Next try playing difffernt CD's to see if any of them work. Confirm they are good CD's by playing them on another device, then try them on your Compaq. If the Cd's play on another device you may possibly be experiencing read errors on the CD/DVD Rom drive. Try using a CD Laser Cleaner that will clean the laser head of the CD /DVD Rom. it looks like a CD with small brushes on the music side. This may solve a read error problem. if that does not solve your problem you may need to replace the CD/DVD Rom drive.

My 40" toshiba tv nexxtech

Please let me know if this works for you! would love positive feedback! if this doesnt work let me know as well will continue to help

toshiba codes are 0159 0178 0109 0120 0181 0105 0049 0095 0170 0260 0358 0394 0924 0012 0095 0117 0141

an to reprogram it you have to follow these directions if found from an online manual for this model

Turn on the device you wish to program the remote to, point the remote at the device and press the key for that particular device (TV, etc.) on the Nexxtech remote. For TVs combined with a VCR or DVD player, use the "TV" key, and for VCR/DVD combination units, both "VCR" and "DVD" will need to be set up if your particular remote offers both.

  • 2 Locate the code (or possible codes) for your brand and type of device in the list supplied with your remote. Press and hold "P" until the display light blinks twice and then enter the first code. The display light will blink with each digit and blink twice if the code was accepted; repeat using the next code if it was not. Press "Power" once the code was accepted to see if the device responds by shutting off. Repeat the steps for all the codes listed under that brand name.
  • 3 Search for a code if none of the listed codes were accepted or if you do not have the list by pressing the appropriate device key, pressing and holding "P" until the display light blinks twice and pressing "9-9-1." Press "Power" to see if the device responds, and press "CH+" to try more codes if it does not. Press "P" again to lock in the code when successful.
  • 4 Point the remote at a programmed device, press the device key, press and hold "P" until the light blinks twice and enter "9-9-0" to learn the code for that device. Press "1" to see the code for the first digit; count the number of blinks on the display light and write down that number. If the number is 0, the light will not blink at all. Repeat for the next three digits by pressing the number key for that digit (2 through 4).
  • 5 Press "9-9-2" after pressing "P" to reassign a device key if, for example, you have two DVD players and no VCR and want to program the "VCR" setting to the second DVD player. In this example, follow "9-9-2" by pressing "DVD" and then "VCR", and then program in the code for that device.

    Xbox 360 DVD drive

Take out the dvd drive and then turn on the power to see if the one red light comes on. If it doesn't come on after taking out the dvd drive then that means the dvd drive is shorting out the main board.

If you take out the dvd drive and the one red light still comes on, then that means its a problem with the main board and your 360 would need to be serviced.

My CD ROM has quit working. It is a HL-DT-ST CDRW?DVD GCCH10N I see it on the device manager but I can not find the driver. I don't know if it got erased by a virus or by accident, but it's gone.

Is it ejecting or inserting CD/DVD at all? Check if the light blink during power on PC.

If no light there, then may be it need to replace.

If some light come up, then check with a paper pin to insert in Hole near the eject/insert button. It will come out.

If this work, then it may be the gear problem which can be repaired.

Please post if not get satisfactory result from this.

Sony Dav-C770 blinking standby light product will not function

I had the same problem, red blinking light after owning for several years. I decided to replace the capacitor at C914 to see if it would work, and it did. Apparently that capacitor is prone to failure. Since this seems to be a common problem, I created a web page detailing the repair. Hope it is helpful. Repair cost $1.39 + tax.
