Able to sign in to yahoo classic mail, unable to open or delete.

Recently worked on a friends lap top which I hooked into my wired cable connection. Now the only way to open or delete email is to disable symantic firewall version 8.6.1.103. I have read my index help section for hours and I have made changes, but no resolution. I wish I could restore default setting, tried to download the lsrirstr from symantic, but unable to figure out how to download in the norton security file. Any suggestions please. I am not using windows firewall. I have windows xp system, running internet explorer also have fire fox. I think the explorer is 6.0.
Thanks,
Lorna

This is Lorna, I have spent hours on my problem with Yahoo mail. I could sign in, but was unable to open/delete email...........I finally ran a diagnostic on my system.it states unable to connect to MSN error 12029, HTTPS port 443, I opened symantic firewall Options, secure port, I have Enable secure port technology selected (I am not positive if it should be?) in empty field named port, typed in 443. clicked add. For now this fixed my problems with Yahoo mail, I can now open and delete. I wish I knew the defaults for my firewall and what they really should be set on...I am sure I will run into more problems, but sadly, it is an experiment now!

I want to return back to yahoomail classic

Yahoo! has recently made over its email client, Yahoo! Mail. The old standard Yahoo! Mail Classic look has been replaced with New Yahoo! Mail, which offers most of the same features but looks different and is organized differently. Yahoo! Mail users who don't like New Yahoo! Mail, or who simply like Yahoo! Mail Classic better, can switch back to the classic view easily.
Step 1. Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account
In your web browser, go to the Yahoo! Mail home page (http://mail.yahoo.com). Sign in to your account using your Yahoo! ID and password, then click the yellow Sign In button. Once you've successfully logged in, you'll see your email folders on the left and the What's New and Inbox tabs in the middle.
Step 2. Choose the Mail Classic option
On the upper right side of the page, there are three links -- Mobile, Options, and Help. Click Options, and when the drop down menu appears, choose "Mail Classic..."
Step 3.Confirm that you want to switch back
A dialog box will pop up with two choices -- Switch to Yahoo! Mail Classic and Cancel. If you're sure you want to switch, click the first option; otherwise, choose Cancel to keep the New Yahoo! Mail. (If you wish to provide feedback about Yahoo! Mail, you can click the feedback link in the dialog box, which will open up a new window.)
Depending on your computer's speed and your Internet connection, the switch may take several seconds. When it's completed, you'll be looking at the old familiar Yahoo! Mail Classic interface.
I hope you're satisfy with my answer.

I am unable to open or send any emails. Where has the tab gone for classical yahoo which is normally at the top of yahoo's home page.

This generally happens when you upgrade to IE8. Try this

1) Open Internet explorer
2) Click on tools/General
3) Delete cookies then delete files
4) click OK
5) Then log onto your email.
6) In the upper left side of your page you should see Yahoo Classic (small blue lettering) OR Click "Options" on the top right corner of the screen and you must get the option to switch back to classic
7) Click on it, wait and it should work

In case you are unable to follow step 6 in IE, try using any other browser, i.e. Firefox
