DVD/VCR Combo - Zenith XBV342 Stuck In Progressive Scan

My DVD/VCR Combo - Zenith XBV342 Is Stuck In Progressive Scan Mode And I Can't Get It Off. I Can No Longer Pull Up The Menu To Try To Figure Out How To Turn It Off. Only displays Blue screen with words "Progressive Scan Mode". Unplugging and Turning Off Didn't Help. Can You Help?

When the unit is stuck in progressive scan you will see blue screen with the words "progressive scan mode". On the remote control press and hold the "stop" button until the unit returns to the setup menu (approximately 5 seconds). If you do not have a remote control, press and hold the stop button on the front of the unit. This unit will return to the setup menu.

Progressive scan mode is used by DVD players to artificially scale standard resolution DVDs to HD resolution, usually 720i. Is your set capable of receiving HD resolution? If not, that is probably why you are getting the blue screen.

Hello
That means the DVD you put into it to play has recordings with "progressive scan" mode. You have to change the mode of the DVD and TV which you wants to see to Progressive Scan mode to see the disc content. OK.

How do I get back to the Meue that I will show progressive scan mode. to remove progressive scan mode, because its stuck on the DVD, whereas we can't see the movie but we can hear the sound. I tried to...

1) Remove any DVD that may be inside
2) Press AND Hold Stop Button (on front of Player) for 5 or more seconds
3) All Done - This will have reset player back to Interlaced Mode and you can now see your DVD!

3) Solved! DVD Player has reverted to Interlaced mode - You can now see your video!

Your television probally does not support progressive scan mod. many do not.

Hearing static while the dvd is playing how would i go about cleaning it

I have the Zenith XBV410 (combo dvd/vcr). I cleaned the lens using the Maxell Lens cleaner kit but nothing happened. Then I ran the Progressive Scan Mode and that seemed to do the trick. Word of caution: Progressive Scam Mode is difficult to turn off so would recommend you remove dvd from player, then press and hold the stop button for a min of 5 seconds up until whatever it takes to disablel PSM (Progressive Scan Mode)

Yes I fixed this problem.

Took out the DVD and closed the tray. I held down the STOP button on the remote for 10-15 seconds and the "Progressive Scan Mode" went away. Has not returned. Thanks!

I can not turn off the proggressive scan!

Try this to disabel the progress scan mode: Pointing the remote at the player, press the STOP key to stop any disc that is playing. Next, press the STOP key again and hold it for five seconds before releasing it. This should turn the Progressive Scan off.
