Sennheiser RS 120 headphones won't work, only hear static

I have a 2006 Sony Bravia TV. The green light is on, and I charged the headphones for over 24 hrs per the manual instructions. I plugged the RCA adaptor into the headphone jack of the tv, and then plugged the red and white RCA jacks into the adaptor. I've tried tuning on all 3 frequencies, and nothing but static. HELP!

Adjust the tuning wheel on the side of the headphones so it picks it up.

What are you plugging your 2 RCA connectors (from the headphones) into on the television?
You are correct, usually:
White = Left Red = Right

In this case
Black = Left Red = Right
Not sure....guess some manufacturers need to be different...
Back to the issue,
You to need to connect the Black to White and Red to Red to the TV BUT you need to make sure you are connecting to an OUTPUT and not to an INPUT on the TV. Most newer TV's do have an "audio out RCA jacks" on the TV but not all. It should be labeled at the connector if it is an output, or just another input. You can always consult the TV manual to be sure.

Few things you can do to test

  • Does your TV have a "headphone jack", use the adapter (2 RCA female - 3.5mm connector) to plug into the headphone jack and see if there is sound
  • Connect the Black and Red RCAs from the headphones directly to the another output, like a DVD player, CD Player etc....

I hope this helps,
Magoo

Work fine for about 5 minutes than change to static

There's an auto-shutoff feature which kicks in when the audio input to the transmitter is too low. That's usually indicated by the green light on the transmitter turning off. Just increase the volume on the device connected to the transmitter, and you should see the green light come back on. As long as that's on, it'll stay transmitting and shouldn't just cut out to static.

Sennheiser 120 green light goes off

Can you remove the rechargible batteries ? To try and reset them ? Or maybe replace them ? It sounds like the batteries have gone bad and not charging

I have a huge problem with these headphones (the Sennheiser HDR 120)... and my wife bought two of them... They have great sound on the computer, but once the green light turns off on the base? There...

The volume of the sound source (Mac) must be sufficient, otherwise the transmitter automatically turns off. Turn up the volume on the Mac, and turn down the volume on the headphones. There is no way to disable the Automatic On/Off function of the transmitter.

My Sennheiser RS 110 headphones won't work. I followed the installation directions but all I get is static. What else can I do?

First thing is you need to have a signal going to the headphones for them to work.

If you are getting a signal the green light should be lit.

If only the red lamp is lit the headphones are not getting a signal.

If hooked into a television you should have them plugged into a Fixed Output not variable output..

If you only have a variable output then you must turn the speakers off on the television and then turn the volume up on the TV in order to send a signal to the headphones.

If you are using a amplifier make sure you are using the correct output. Tape Monitors generally will not work as this output is not amplified.

Lastly try using an rca to headphone adapter and plug them into a headphone jack.

Sennheiser RS126 headphones/base stopped working

Broken audio cable entering the transmitter or audio jack plug.

Power supply plug loose / faulty power supply.

No green On/Off light. Charge light is red. I hear only static.

Two things.. Check the batteries..
Also.. since these headphones have to have a signal sent to them to activate transmission (green light simply indicates they are receiving a signal) it can take a few moments after the signal begins to activate them.
I would hazard a guess that when you unplug the cables and then plug them back in.. the feedback that generates activates the base much the same as a regular audio signal would
Finally.. make sure the source is a fixed output.. if not.. and its variable..you will have to increase the output or volume to activate the base..

Good luck!

There in no green light on RS 120. There is a red light on indicating that the headphone is being charged. Why I cannot use non-chargeable AAA batteries?

The green light only comes on when it is receiving an audio signal.

Standard batteries will work.. if you NEVER use the charging station.. and plan on replacing them every x number of hours used.. IMPORTANT.. if you forget.. and place the headset on the charging station with standard batteries.. they will probably rupture.. and may well ruin the headset..

If you decide to replace the chargable batteries.. make sure you replace them with the right size and type..
