Sounds like air has gotten into your ice bucket and created a block of ice. Empty your ice bucket into salad bowl make sure the cubes are separated. Run warm water through your bucket especially the opening that the ice falls through make sure the pathway is clear. Pour the ice from the salad bowl back into your ice bucket and try cubed ice again see what happens.

Hi Clark, this is AP. From what you have briefly mentioned, it sounds or it appears as your Frigidaire refrigerator is having difficulties with changing the type of ice that is dispensing. Below are instructions on how to adjust this. 1. Take out the ice bin to access the switch in the freezer. 2. Underneath the ice bin is a metal rod. 3. In the back of the freezer there is a square hole from where the rod came. Put your finger in this hole. 4. You should feel a plastic lever. If it's up, push it down. If it's down, push it up. 5. Put the ice bin back and try for ice again. You should receive crushed and cubed ice at this time. 6. If you push the lever up or down and it doesn't stay in place you should contact an authorized service technician for repair. However, if you are seeing that the panel on the dispenser itself is not changing to cubed when you select cubed the trouble could be within the control panel. If the instructions above do not solve the problem or the trouble seems to be the control panel we are confident that an authorized service agent will be able to restore your appliance to its normal operating condition. I have provided a link below to assist in locating an authorized technician.

Your ice solenoid is frozen. It is located behind the ice bucket next to the auger motor. It will need to be removed, unfrozen, and squirt a little wd40 to prevent it from happening again

SOURCE: ice crusher has stopped crushing

There is a little bar that is on the ice bucket. That bar has to go into the middle of the plastic square that is on the back wall of the freezer. Try Pulling out the ice bucket, get a hair dryer and run the hair dryer on the back wall of the freezer right above the hole where that little bar goes. After you run the hair dryer for about 10 minutes or so put your finger in the hole and pull down on the plastic square. Make sure when you put the ice bucket back in the freezer, the bar goes inside the square hole, not under it, not over it. In it. If that doesn't fix the problem you probably just need a new solenoid. Part number 5304404333

Let me know how you make out. Good Luck

SOURCE: Ice maker frozen on "crushed" ice mode

Check the bar below the icemaker bin. There is a gold color metal bar that goes from the front of the bin to the back and goes into a lever at the back of the freezer. If the bar gets on the wrong side of the lever it will be stuck in crushed mode.

SOURCE: Ice maker is crushing ice when cube ice button is on

We've had a similar problem, possibly the same, with our LG in-door ice maker. Whether cubed ice or crushed ice is selected, it crushes the ice.

We found that there is a little lever on the inside of the door, on the lower right behind the ice bin, which freezes in the down position. This is a literal "freeze up", as a block of ice forms in the little well under this switch and eventually freezes the switch in place. Since the switch needs to go up to provide cubed,.. we only get crushed. On 3 separate occassions we've thawed and chipped out (carefully) this little ice dam and gotten cubed ice capability back for a few weeks. At which point it freezes again. I have no idea why water collects there in the first place.

Getting shaved ice instead of cubes

Several possibilities, but check first for cubes that are too small (means too little water is coming in during ice maker fill) and those cubes fracture into smaller bits when they are dispensed.

Another possibility is the cube/crushed plate inside the dispenser is stuck. This is a curved plastic piece that lies next to the crusher blades inside the dispenser head of the ice storage bin. For cubes this place must be retracted (swing away from) the crushed fingers to allow the cubes to pass without being broken up.

My Maytag Fridge Ice Dispenser stuck on crushed ice, so no whole cubes can dispense. What can I do?

If you look at the bottom out side area of the ice cube bucket/auger assembly, you will see a metal rod going front to back. That is the shift rod for cubes/crushed ice. Make sure it is free. Then look at the back of the refrigerator where the end of that rod goes into a square hole. There is a magnetic solenoid in that hole that shifts the rod for selection. The solenoid coil is either bad, unplugged, or for some reason stuck and not shifting that rod. That's where the problems is located.

Ge gss fridge,ice dispenser problem.

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. The crush position is without the solenoid energized. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

Your solenoid is part 45 and the linkage to the crusher is 46. The crusher is 41 on this diagram and parts list. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5150332&diagram_id=1239793#d1239793

Ice crusher stuck on crush mode can't swith back to cube

is it push button or do you manually have to turn dial from crush to cube. I have push button and had this problem once before.(LG side by side) I turned off at power (remove cord from wall) and removed ice tray all together. save some ice for testing. Check to see if crush part was clean. Put ice back in container and put back together and turn back on at power point. See if you can have cubed now.

Ice crusher don't work

Hi, It sounds like the selonoid that shifts the auger is not working. This part is located behind the panel that the bucket pushes against. The little wire arm on the bucket goes into this. Sometimes they just get froze up from the moister. If you remove the panel/section the selonoid is in, you can see if the part has went bad.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know If I can assist you further.

Ice maker only makes crushed ice, no cubes

The button which selects cubes versus crushed controls a solenoid which engages/disengages the crusher. If the mechanisms which crush and push the ice from the chute are all clean, free of ice, etc., then the solenoid is not working. It either has loose/dirty connections or the solelnoid is bad.

Crushed ice only.No cubes.

Pull the ice bin out about 4 inches and re-insert it in the slot in the rear to reset the crusher arm.

Ice dispensor only dispensing crushed ice - not cubed

Make sure that your ice tray is properly instaled. There is a rod that must go into a hole. When you select ice cubes rather than crushed ice a solenoid raises which moves that rod. It then opens a flap so the cubes can bypass the crusher. Either your rod is not in the hole correctly or the solenoid has gone bad. The rod that I am speaking of runs along the underside of the ice tray. It has a spring on the rear end that holds the bypass flpa closed.

Admiral Fridge Freezer

We had thought this was a free service...??? Yes, we fixed it ourselves, after trial and error. We pulled out the ice bin and there is an arm that is moves back and forth beside it. It had frozen up. That is the ice crusher. Thaw it out and it is fixed. By the way, the above posting was not by us--ours stated that our ice crusher did not crush ice anymore. Instead, cubes came out...
