Question about Gateway M305CRV Notebook
As the subject says, my laptop fell to the floor and won't work now. Mind you, the battery had already been shot by then so the battery is no help at this point. I have an aftermarket power adapter that has a light on it that stays on all of the time. When I plug it in to the back of the laptop now, the light turns off. This is telling me there's got to be a short in the computer. Where do I go from here?
I had my computer sitting on a tall box and my foot was cought on it when i got up and it flew across the room now it sometimes make this really loud noise ,it kind sound like as if there was a cd in it and the cd was scratching but i have a computer that has a built in cd player on the side. and it sometimes freeze and doesnt let me turn the computer off.

Your laptop hit the floor with a velocity of almost 12 m/s (43.2 km/hr). OUCH.

Take it to someone that can disassemble it and repair the short at the jack - The jack probably got pushed into the computer when it fell and shorted. Typical repair cost at most shops is $100-$150 (although your might be more because of the short).
If you can disassemble it and take just the motherboard in to a shop labor should be a lot less since you will do 1/2 the work.
Get a recommendation for a place if you can since there are some places that are not very capable at soldering.
